No. 16 UMBC Pulls Off Historic Upset, Beats No. 1 Virginia In NCAA Tournament

The Retrievers are making history. Tasked with top-seeded Virginia in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, University of Maryland, Baltimore County stunned the Cavaliers with a 74-54 upset. The win marked the first time in tournament history that the 16th-seeded team knocked off the top-seeded team. Virginia’s calling card long had been its defense, but it simply had no answer for the Retrievers’ fast-paced offense, which shot 26-for-48 from the field, hitting 12 of their 24 3-point attempts. UMBC senior guard Jarius Lyles simply ran over Virginia — who entered the game 31-2 — dropping 28 points and cruising into the lane with ease. < ... NESN.com

Lindsey Vonn Shares Video Of Herself Doing Pull Ups With A Broken Arm

Share this: Lindsey Vonn broke her arm really badly three weeks ago. Just take a look for yourself. That doesn’t seem to faze the Olympic gold medalist, though, as last week she shared a video of herself doing pulls, broken arm and all. Vonn shared on Twitter that all of this intense rehabilitation is being done in the hopes of returning to action next month. Judging by her broken arm pull ups, I wouldn’t bet against her reaching her goal. Thumbnail photo via Sergei Belski/USA TODAY Sports Images More Stories Source link

Red Sox Notes: Boston Pulls Into First-Place Tie With Blue Jays After Rout Of A’s

The Boston Red Sox demolished the Oakland Athletics on Saturday, and it earned them a share of first place in the American League East. The Toronto Blue Jays lost to the Tampa Bay Rays 7-5 while the Red Sox cruised to their third straight win in an 11-2 drubbing of the A’s. So, at 76-59, the Red Sox and Jays sit dead-even atop the AL East with the Baltimore Orioles knocking on the back door just two games behind. However, the Red Sox don’t want to celebrate just yet. The Major League Baseball schedule typically loads teams up with division games in September, and that’s no different in 2016. The Red Sox —

Kevin Love Pulls A Stone Cold Steve Austin After Cavs’ NBA Finals Win

The Cleveland Cavaliers hit the Golden State Warriors with a Stone Cold Stunner on Sunday night in Game 7 of the NBA Finals, and Kevin Love celebrated rather appropriately. The Cavaliers defeated the Warriors 93-89 to give the city of Cleveland its first major sports championship since 1964. Love, who scored nine points and added 14 rebounds while also making a huge defensive stop on Stephen Curry late in the fourth quarter, marked the occasion by tossing on an “Austin 3:16” shirt and channeling his inner Stone Cold Steve Austin. Love pounded a couple of beers amid the Cavs’ locker room celebration. He ended up getting more beer on his shirt and

Stephen Curry Pulls Up From Halfcourt, Drains Impressive 3-Pointer (Video)

Is there anything Steph Curry can’t do? We’ve seen the Golden State Warriors point guard hit incredible, mind-boggling shots before. His pregame shooting routines — which include pull-up jumpers often from just a step inside the logo at halfcourt — practically are Hall of Fame-worthy displays on their own. But doing it during a game is something entirely different. There really aren’t any words that can do this justice, other than maybe shouting some indiscernible things through your screen in caps lock. So instead of doing that, we’re going to shut up and let you marvel at the magic that is Steph Curry. Curry’s magic wa...

Venus pulls out of Cincinnati WTA event

Venus Williams has pulled out of WTA Tour's Western and Southern Open tournament in Cincinnati, complaining of a viral illness, organisers said on Friday. It is the second consecutive year the American has withdrawn from the event as she skipped the 2010 tournament with a sore knee. The world No 34 was forced to withdraw from this week's Rogers Cup in Toronto with the same illness. "I regret not having the opportunity to compete in the Western and Southern Open this year," Williams said. "I am making
