Mookie Betts Isn’t Afraid Of The Big Stage For Red Sox As Playoffs Loom
Mookie Betts says he doesn’t feel any added pressure from being in a pennant race, and it’s hard not to believe him. Betts launched a two-run home run — his 31st of the season — in the third inning of the Red Sox’ 5-2 win against the Orioles on Monday night in Baltimore. It was the eighth home run that Betts has hit at Camden Yards this season. With the victory, the Red Sox moved four games ahead of Baltimore for first place in the American League East. Share this: Dustin Pedroia nearly made history Saturday night. The Boston Red Sox’s second baseman entered his final at-bat with a chance to tie the major league record for most consecutive at-bats with a hit. After three terrific nights at the plate, Pedroia was sitting on 11 straight hits (with a walk mixed in Friday) before grounding out in Boston’s 8-3 win.
