Share this: BOSTON — The Red Sox already have won two of their four games against the New York Yankees this series, and David Price will be trying to make it three. The left-hander is starting for the Red Sox on Saturday against the Yankees at Fenway Park, and he has a chance to extend his own winning streak to eight games. Price has a 2.16 ERA and 51 strikeouts over 50 innings in his last seven outings, however, he hasn’t fared as well against New York this season. Price is 1-2 with a 7.79 ERA in three starts against the Bronx Bombers. The rest of the Red Sox’s lineup remains pretty much unchanged from Friday, save for the addition of Andrew Benintendi.

Red Sox Wrap: Hanley Ramirez’s Walk-Off Homer Gives Boston 7-5 Win Vs. Yankees
Share this: BOSTON — Hanley Ramirez was a hero in Boston on Thursday night. After Red Sox starter Eduardo Rodriguez dug a deep hole for his club, giving up four runs over just 2 1/3 innings, Boston looked to be out of this one. But with a late surge from the Red Sox’s offense, they were able to walk off with a 7-5 win thanks to a monster three-run homer by Ramirez. Here’s how it all went down. GAME IN A WORDNail-biter. The Red Sox looked as though they’d lost this game through most of the contest. They didn’t generate much offense, which didn’t help them overcome Rodriguez’s poor start. But Boston put runs on the board when it needed to, and with two outs in
Red Sox Wrap: Boston Wastes Rick Porcello’s Gem In 1-0 Loss To Orioles
Share this: BOSTON — Rick Porcello has gotten terrific run support all year, but the law of averages caught up to him Wednesday. The Red Sox right-hander dazzled the Baltimore Orioles in a stellar outing, but Orioles starter Kevin Gausman did him one better, shutting down Boston’s bats to hand the Sox a 1-0 loss in the teams’ series finale at Fenway Park. It was an opportunity wasted for the Red Sox, as both the Toronto Blue Jays and New York Yankees lost Wednesday. Boston now holds a one-game lead over Baltimore in the American League East. Here’s how this one went down. GAME IN A WORDDuel. Porcello and Gausman both brought their A-games, combining to allow just one run on a total of eight hits in their respective
Red Sox’s Struggles In One-Run Games A Cause For Concern, But Not Panic
Share this: BOSTON — The Red Sox have a very good team this season, as their perch atop the American League East can attest. But Boston’s 2016 squad appears to have an Achilles’ heel, and that weakness was exposed again Wednesday night. Rick Porcello and the Red Sox lost a 1-0 pitchers’ duel to Kevin Gausman and the Baltimore Orioles at Fenway Park, losing a three-game series that started with a convincing 12-2 win. Indeed, as much as Boston is capable of blowout wins, it’s also prone to tight losses. The Sox now have lost seven consecutive one-run games dating to Aug. 24 and are 16-22 in one-run games this season, the fourth-lowest winning percentage in such games in the entire AL. So, why can’t the Red Sox
Red Sox Wrap: Drew Pomeranz Roughed Up Early In 6-3 Loss To Orioles
BOSTON — There were more home runs to be had at Fenway Park on Tuesday, but this time, the visitors did most of the heavy lifting. The Baltimore Orioles jumped out to a five-run lead thanks to a pair of home runs off Red Sox starter Drew Pomeranz and hit a third homer for good measure to hand Boston a 6-3 loss, evening the teams’ three-game series at one game apiece. The Toronto Blue Jays also lost Tuesday, meaning the Red Sox still own a two-game lead over Toronto and Baltimore in the American League East. Here’s how this one went down. Here’s What Red Sox Players Wore On ‘Favorite Jersey’ Flight To Toronto
The Boston Red Sox had some fun on their flight to Toronto. Red Sox manager John Farrell told his players before Wednesday night’s game against the San Diego Padres at Petco Park that they’d be allowed to wear their favorite jerseys — rather than formal wear — for their trip across the border. The Sox won their series finale in San Diego 7-2, and some of the threads worn for the “Favorite Jersey” flight certainly didn’t disappoint. If anything, it was a very random assortment. Red Sox Wrap: Boston’s Offense Can’t Heat Up Again In 2-1 Loss To Padres
Share this: Another day, another poor offensive showing for Boston. The Red Sox dropped their second consecutive one-run game Monday against the San Diego Padres in what was a good day for starter Drew Pomeranz and his relievers but a rough one for Boston’s hitters. Padres starter Edwin Jackson struck out 11 Red Sox, and their relievers struck out three more as Boston’s bats went cold again after losing to the Oakland Athletics 1-0 on Sunday. And not even David Ortiz could save the Red Sox this time. Here’s how the game unfolded. GAME IN A WORDSlump. The Red Sox’s powerful offense has been anything but over the past two games.
