Red Sox’s Chris Sale Breaks Down One-Inning Outing Vs. Blue Jays

Red Sox’s Chris Sale Breaks Down One-Inning Outing Vs. Blue Jays

We knew Chris Sale’s outing Tuesday night was going to be brief, but not even the left-hander probably thought it would be that brief. Sale tossed just one inning against the Toronto Blue Jays in his return to the mound, allowing one hit while striking out two in a scoreless frame. After the Boston Red Sox’s 7-2 win at Fenway Park, Sale admitted he was a little erratic and rushed things a bit. Still, the southpaw “felt good” in his first appearance since returning from his second disabled list stint of the season. For more from Sale, check out the video above from “NESN Sports Today,”

Rick Porcello Laments His, Red Sox’s ‘Sloppy’ Performance In Loss To Rays

The Boston Red Sox have looked pretty sharp most nights this season, but Saturday was not one of those nights. The Sox put on a pretty ugly showing and fell to the Tampa Bay Rays 5-1, dropping the second straight contest of the three-game set at Tropicana Field. There really were no redeeming qualities for Boston in the loss, as everything from the pitching to the offense were quite underwhelming. Following the game, Sox starter Rick Porcello gave a pretty candid assessment of his and his team’s performance. To hear what he had to say, check out the “NESN Sports Today” video above, presented

Red Sox’s Hector Velazquez Takes Mound In Game 2 Of Doubleheader Vs. Orioles

Red Sox’s 13-7 Loss Vs. Blue Jays ‘Completely On’ Rick Porcello

Red Sox’s 13-7 Loss Vs. Blue Jays ‘Completely On’ Rick Porcello

The Boston Red Sox’s offense did everything it could to extend the club’s winning streak to 11 games Friday against the Toronto Blue Jays, but it wasn’t enough as the Sox ultimately fell 13-7 at Fenway Park. Starter Rick Porcello had a rough night, giving up eight earned runs in two-plus innings while uncharacteristically walking four hitters. The 2016 American League Cy Young Award winner didn’t shy away from blame after the loss, saying the defeat was on his inability to execute and hold a lead. To hear from Porcello, check out the “NESN Sports Today” video above, presented by People’s United Bank.

Red Sox’s Rick Porcello Bemoans Walks Allowed In Outing Vs. White Sox

Red Sox’s Rick Porcello Bemoans Walks Allowed In Outing Vs. White Sox

Rick Porcello had allowed one walk or less in seven of his 13 outings entering Sunday. Unfortunately for the Boston Red Sox starter, he had trouble finding the strike zone in the series finale against the Chicago White Sox. The veteran right-hander allowed three free-passes to the Southsiders, including a bases-loaded walk in the third inning, as Chicago grabbed a 5-2 victory at Fenway Park. After the game, Porcello acknowledged that while pitchers won’t be 100 percent every outing, throwing strikes is to be expected. Red Sox’s Chris Sale Talks What Makes Houston Astros’ Offense So Good

Chris Sale knew he had his work cut out for him facing a Houston Astros lineup. The Boston Red Sox lefty gave up four runs on six hits in Friday night’s 7-3 loss at Minute Maid Park, but also was familiar with the Astros after facing them twice in the 2017 American League Division Series. After the game, he credited Houston’s offense, saying the team winning the World Series in 2017 speaks to just how good they are. Red Sox Legend David Ortiz Defends Boston Against Reputation For Racism

The city of Boston has garnered a reputation as a racist city, but one legendary athlete says nothing could be farther from the truth. Red Sox legend David Ortiz remains adamant about how well Boston has treated him and African Americans alike. The 10-time All-Star went on The Glass Half Empty Podcast and discussed racism in Boston with Ryan Glasspiegel of The Big Lead. “I never lived in any racial situations in Boston. Boston was a city that loved me, (and) I loved Boston,” Ortiz responded when asked about the city of Boston.  “I don’t think it’s fair to blame the whole city of Boston when a couple of knuckleheads go out there and
