Share this: Carmelo Anthony’s tenure with the New York Knicks might have just a few weeks remaining. ESPN.com’s Ian Begley reports the Knicks will look to deal their veteran franchise player before next season. “The Knicks shopped Anthony in trade talks before the deadline and, barring an unforeseen change of course, remain committed to moving Anthony in the offseason, per sources,” Begley writes. Several teams could be interested in Anthony. Even at age 32, he’s a tremendous offensive player who still can put up 20 points per game. He also has 3-point range and is a competent free throw shooter. The problem with acquiring Anthony is his contract, both in terms of length and salary. He’s signed through the 2018-19 season with a salary above $26 million

Quarter-finalists go head to head
Ahead of the UEFA Champions League quarter-final draw, UEFA.com dips into the history books to see how each of the remaining teams have fared against their potential last-eight opponents – and finds that Barcelona might want to avoid Atlético and Bayern, Borussia Dortmund probably won't relish another meeting with Juventus, and there is virtually nothing between Real Madrid and Bayern.Atléticov Barcelona P4 W2 D1 L1 F5 A3v Bayern P6 W2 D1 L3 F4 A8v Dortmund P4 W1 D1 L2 F3 A4v Juventus P2 W1 D1 L0 F1 A0v Leicester P4 W3 D1 L0 F7 A2v Monaco N/Av Real Madrid P7 W1 D2 L4 F5 A10
This Eye-Opening Schedule Stat Bodes Well For Celtics’ Playoff Push
Share this: The 2017 NCAA Tournament kicks off later this week, but the Boston Celtics may already have endured their version of March Madness. The Celtics hit a rough patch in early March, going 2-3 on a five-game West Coast road trip that included a last-second loss to the lowly Phoenix Suns and a listless defeat to the Denver Nuggets. Boston’s stumble was good news for the red-hot Washington Wizards, who moved past the Celtics into the Eastern Conference’s No. 2 seed with only a month left to play in the regular season and show no signs of slowing down. But if you’re a C’s fan looking for a silver lining, you’ve come to the right place. Consider this schedule tidbit for Boston’s final
Celtics Wrap: Suns Score Five Points In Six Seconds To Stun Celtics
Share this: The Boston Celtics looked like they had earned a hard-fought victory against the Phoenix Suns on Sunday afternoon. But, looks can be deceiving. The Celtics led by two points with six seconds remaining when Suns guard Eric Bledsoe tied the game by hitting a tough layup. Isaiah Thomas then turned the ball over after the inbounds pass, and rookie point guard Tyler Ulis hit a step back buzzer-beating 3-pointer to deal the C’s a devastating loss. Thomas led the Celtics with 35 points, but it wasn’t enough to overcome 28 points from Bledsoe and a career-high 20 from Ulis. The Suns improve to 21-42 with the win, while the Celtics fall to 40-23. Here’s how it all went down. STARTING FIVEIsaiah Thomas, Jaylen Brown, Jae Crowder,
Taj Gibson Throws Prayer Mile High From Other End Of Court, Somehow Drains Shot
We tend to call way too many sports plays “incredible”, but we really can’t think of anything else to say about what the Oklahoma City Thunder’s Taj Gibson did at the halftime buzzer Thursday night. The Portland Trail Blazers went for the old lob pass off an inbounds play to try to get one last shot off before the half, but the ball ended up in Gibson’s hands instead. Since there were two seconds remaining, Gibson launched a shot of his own, probably just for the heck of it. But his mile-high heave turned into one of the luckiest shots you’ll ever see. Oh. My. Goodness. Thumbnail photo via Mark D. Smith/USA TODAY
Northwestern Might Have Sealed First Tourney Bid With Incredible Prayer At Buzze…
Share this: If Northwestern finally makes the NCAA men’s basketball tournament this season, we’ll all likely look back at March 1 as the night the Wildcats broke their program-long curse. And what a way to do it. It appeared as though Northwestern and Michigan were heading to overtime with their Big Ten Conference clash tied with 1.7 seconds remaining in regulation, but the Wildcats made sure that didn’t happen. Instead, Nathan Taphorn inbounded the pass and tossed up a Hail Mary the full length of the court to Dererk Pardon, who made the game-winning bucket as time expired to give the Wildcats the 67-65 win. Go crazy, Northwestern. At 21-9, now looks as good a time as ever to make your first ever NCAA Tournament. Thumbnail photo
If Daytona 500 Was Any Evidence, It Could Be Long NASCAR Season
Share this: After an action-packed Daytona 500, we can’t help but wondering what the heck is going on. Kurt Busch took his first 500 victory during Sunday’s Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race, but finishing the race at all arguably was just as impressive a feat. When Busch crossed the finish line, there were just 25 cars, and hardly any of NASCAR’s big-ticket drivers, remaining on track. Veterans such as Kyle Busch, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Matt Kenseth, Danica Patrick, Jimmie Johnson and Brad Keselowski, all of whom were running well at the time, were taken out in one of the several big wrecks. For many NASCAR fans, the Daytona 500 probably felt like déjà vu, as Saturday’s Xfinity Series race had an even higher attrition
