Anonymous Bomb Threat Investigated At Daytona International Speedway
Independence Day weekend at Daytona International Speedway got off to a troubling start. Daytona Beach Police responded to a bomb threat at the speedway Thursday afternoon, the Orlando Sentinel reports. Police Chief Craig Capri said authorities investigated the area and found no evidence of explosive devices. An anonymous caller reportedly said multiple devices at Daytona were set to go off in 30 minutes. Once the 30 minutes passed, police spent roughly an hour sweeping the area, according to spokeswoman Lyda Longa. According to ESPN’s Ian Begley, Kentucky men’s basketball coach John Calipari has reached out to the Knicks to expresses interest the team’s presidency. The Knicks parted ways with former president Phil Jackson on Wednesday. The interest doesn’t appear to be mutual, though, as Begley reports the Knicks currently are not considering Calipari at the moment. Begley also notes that if Calipari were to take on the president role, he’d want to be the team’s head coach, as well. Calipari does have some NBA experience. Chris Paul was going to be a highly sought after player in free agency this summer, but the Houston Rockets made sure the point guard wouldn’t hit the open market. The Rockets agreed to trade for Paul in a blockbuster deal with the Los Angeles Clippers on Wednesday, pairing CP3 with James Harden in what should be a lethal backcourt.
