Early First-Period Deficit Dooms Bruins In High-Scoring Game Vs. Oilers
Share this: The Boston Bruins dropped Game 3 of their current four-game road trip 7-4 to the Edmonton Oilers on Thursday night. The Oilers scored two early first-period goals, and the Bruins could keep up to Edmonton’s explosive offense the rest of the way. The Bruins showed a little life in the first period when they made it a one-goal game. But the Oilers took back control, and B’s interim head coach Bruce Cassidy pulled goalie Tuukka Rask, who allowed five goals, in favor of backup goalie Anton Khudobin. To hear what Cassidy said after the game, check out his interview with Jack Edwards and Andy Brickley in the video above from “Bruins Overtime Live.” Thumbnail photo from Perry Nelson/USA TODAY Sports More Stories Source link
Bruce Cassidy Impressed With Bruins’ Resiliency In 5-2 Win Over Flames
Share this: The Boston Bruins had to turn in a great performance against the red-hot Calgary Flames on Wednesday night, and that’s exactly what they did. The B’s put an end to the Flames’ 10-game winning streak with an impressive 5-2 road victory. Calgary jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the contest, but Boston responded with an offensive outburst. Head coach Bruce Cassidy was impressed with his team’s resiliency, especially David Backes. The Bruins winger had to be assisted off the ice after crashing head-first into the boards late in the first period, but would later return in the second frame and scored a huge goal to give the B’s a 3-2 lead. To hear what Cassidy had to say of Backes,
Celtics Wrap: Isaiah Thomas, C’s Come Storming Back To Beat Trail Blazers
Share this: Maybe the West Coast isn’t so bad after all for the Boston Celtics. The C’s opened their current four-game road trip with a brutal loss to the Sacramento Kings on Wednesday, and Thursday’s game against the Portland Trail Blazers appeared to be more of the same after the first quarter. But Boston came back from a 17-point deficit to top Portland 120-111 at Moda Center. Shocker: Isaiah Thomas led the Celtics, who were without two of their starters — Jae Crowder and Avery Bradley — with 34 points. Marcus Smart (18 points, five steals, five assists, six rebounds), Kelly Olynyk (13 points, seven rebounds), Al Horford (12 points, five rebounds), Gerald Green (11 points), Terry Rozier (11 points, five assists) and Jaylen
Simone Biles soars to AP Female Athlete of the Year
Simone Biles tried to treat the 2016 Summer Olympics like just your average ordinary gymnastics meet. So what if the stage and the stakes were different? The floor was still the floor. The vault still the vault. The uneven bars still uneven. The balance beam still a four-inch wide test of nerves. And the 19-year-old with the electric smile and boundless talent was still the best in the world. Maybe the best of all-time. Over the course of 10 days in August, the biggest meet of her life ended like pretty much all the others in the four years that came before it, with Biles standing atop the podium, a gold medal around her neck and the sport she’s redefining one boundary-pushing routine
What Christmas Gift Would Help Boston Bruins For Rest Of Season?
The Boston Bruins fell 3-2 in overtime to the Carolina Hurricanes on Friday night. But the B’s were still able to pick up three out of four possible points on their pre-Christmas road trip. However, in order to keep moving up the Eastern Conference standings, the Bruins could use a gift. Hear Billy Jaffe’s take on what the Boston Bruins could use for a Christmas gift on “NESN Sports Today,” presented by People’s United Bank. ... NESN.com
Cowboys Clinch NFC East Title, Home Field In Playoffs After Giants Lose To Eagle…
Share this: The road to the Super Bowl for the NFC will go through AT&T Stadium. The Dallas Cowboys clinched the NFC East title and home-field advantage throughout the NFC playoffs as a result of the New York Giants losing 24-19 to the Philadelphia Eagles on Thursday night. It remains to be seen if the Cowboys will rest any of their important players with nothing left to clinch over the final two weeks of the regular season. Maybe backup quarterback Tony Romo will take some snaps to make sure he’s ready if needed in the playoffs. The loss drops the Giants to 10-5, but they still are the favorite for the first wild card (No. 5 seed) in the NFC playoffs. Besides, going on
