There’s been plenty of talk as of late about how to improve the game of baseball. From pitch clocks, to shortening the season, to even beginning extra innings with a man on second base, there certainly has been no shortage of chatter. One thing that isn’t often talked about, is the Major League Baseball rosters. As it is, the active roster for each team is made up of 25 players. Patriots Have More Former Players On Other Rosters Than Most Teams
FOXBORO, Mass. — When asked a question about former New England Patriots draft pick Ted Larsen, who now plays guard for the Miami Dolphins, head coach Bill Belichick revealed something interesting. The Patriots track how many former players are on other teams rosters. Belichick said the number varies every day because players are signed, waived and claimed, but the number currently stands at 85, according to NESN.com’s tracking. Belichick projected it was somewhere between 70 and 90. When Sept. 1 rolls around, Major League Baseball teams are able to expand their rosters to 40 players, allowing for more depth as clubs prepare for the final stretch of the playoff push. David Krejci, David Pastrnak Lead Seven Bruins On World Cup Rosters
The Boston Bruins will be sending seven players to Toronto this fall to participate in the World Cup of Hockey. David Krejci and David Pastrnak were named to Team Czech Republic, while Patrice Bergeron (Team Canada), Zdeno Chara (Team Europe), Dennis Seidenberg (Europe), Tuukka Rask (Team Finland) and Loui Eriksson (Team Sweden) also made the team. Boston’s seven selections were tied with the Washington Capitals and Detroit Red Wings for third-most in the NHL.
