There are multiple theories as to why quarterback Colin Kaepernick remains without an NFL job, but the latest rumor takes the (vegan) cake. Although many have pointed to last season’s national anthem protest (and the extra attention attached to Kaepernick for spearheading it) as the primary reason for his lengthy free agency process, Kaepernick’s diet also could be concerning teams, according to NBC Sports Bay Area’s Matt Maiocco. On the surface, this sounds rather crazy. Even if a vegan diet doesn’t seem ideal for a professional athlete constantly faced with intense physical demands, it’s wild to envision teams putting so much stock into t... NESN.com

NFL Rumors: Patriots ‘Expect’ To Lose LeGarrette Blount In NFL Free Agency
New England Patriots running back LeGarrette Blount had a career year with the Patriots in 2016, but it doesn’t sound like he will be returning for an encore next season. NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo said on air Tuesday that there is an “expectation” that Blount will not be back with the Patriots in 2017, according to CSNNE. Blount will become an unrestricted free agent Thursday when the new NFL league year begins. The 30-year-old running back is coming off a season in which he ran for a career-high 1,161 yards and an NFL-leading 18 touchdowns. It was his first season with double-digit touchdowns for the Patriots. If Blount does decide t... NESN.com
NFL Rumors: Browns Taking QB With No. 1 Pick Would Be ‘Major Shock’
All eyes will be on the Cleveland Browns at the 2017 NFL Draft. There’s no way they screw it up, right? The Browns, of course, have this year’s No. 1 overall pick. And while Texas A&M pass rusher Myles Garrett is the consensus top player on draft boards, it’s been rumored that Cleveland is “strongly considering” taking quarterback Mitch(ell) Trubisky to fill a dire need at QB. But the Browns drew some attention Sunday by tweeting out a video of Garrett’s impressive 4.64-second 40-yard dash at the NFL Scouting Combine, and ESPN’s Adam Schefter used the opportunity to throw cold water on the Trubisky-to-Cleveland rumors. Sche... NESN.com
NFL Rumors: Falcons’ Julio Jones Might Be Getting Foot Surgery
Atlanta Falcons star wide receiver Julio Jones battled a foot injury for most of the 2016 NFL season, and now he might need to have surgery. Yes, might. NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport reported Sunday that Jones will have foot surgery Monday but he will be ready for training camp. However, ESPN’s Vaughn McClure later reported that the Falcons’ receiver will meet with Dr. Robert Anderson to determine if he needs to have a bunion removed from his foot, but no decision on surgery has been made yet. The 28-year-old had a fantastic 2016 campaign, catching 83 passes for 1,409 yards and six touchdowns. Jones didn’t seem to be affected by the ... NESN.com
NBA Rumors: Cavs Were Nervous About Possible Celtics’ Blockbuster Trade
Despite being tied to a number of blockbuster trade rumors, the Boston Celtics made no moves at the NBA trade deadline. While this might have come as a disappointment to Celtics fans, it came as a sigh of relief to one of Boston’s Eastern Conference rivals: The Cleveland Cavaliers. Appearing on “The Lowe Post” podcast on Friday, ESPN’s Brian Windhorst explained that the Cavaliers were pretty nervous over the thought of the Celtics possibly acquiring Jimmy Butler or Paul George. “The Cavs were on pins and needles about the Celtics (possibly) getting Paul George or Jimmy Butler,” ESPN’s Brian Windhorst said on The Lowe Post podcast Fr... NBA Rumors: Terrence Jones Interested In Joining Celtics After Buyout
The Boston Celtics’ roster looks exactly the same as it did before Thursday’s NBA trade deadline. But that doesn’t mean it’s set in stone. The NBA’s buyout period runs from now until March 1, and several players are available for teams to scoop up as free agents. One of those players is forward Terrence Jones, who was waived by the New Orleans Pelicans on Thursday. And according to Steve Kyler of Basketball Insiders, Jones has an eye on Boston. The Celtics could be a good fit for Jones, who averaged 11.5 points and 5.9 points per game as a role player for the Pelicans this season. At just 25 years
NBA Rumors: 76ers’ Jahlil Okafor ‘Will Be Moved’ Before Trade Deadline
The likelihood of Jahlil Okafor remaining with the Philadelphia 76ers beyond Thursday’s 3 p.m. ET NBA trade deadline appears slim. “He will get moved, I can tell you that,” NBA.com reporter David Aldridge said Tuesday on NBATV. “They’re not going to go into next season with him on the roster and they’re not going to finish out this season with him on the roster.” Okafor, a solid offensive center, is averaging 11.4 points, 4.8 rebounds and 1.1 blocks per game this season. He’s not an above average rim protector, but the former third overall draft pick has made strides defensively since his rookie season. The 76ers have dra... NESN.com
