Richard Sherman is tired of the criticism. The All-Pro cornerback negotiated his own contract with the San Francisco 49ers upon being released by the Seattle Seahawks earlier this offseason. The result was a three-year deal that’s heavy on incentives, causing many to wonder whether Sherman would have been better off hiring an agent. But as Sherman explained Tuesday, there was a method to his madness. And thus, he defended the contract, both at his introductory press conference and via a piece published on The Players’ Tribune. “It was really important to me,” Sherman told reporters Tuesday, per ESPN.com. “I think that a lot of times... Steve Kerr ‘Rattled’ After Mistaking Reporter For Jimmy Garoppolo
Steve Kerr was a bit flustered Thursday night after the Golden State Warriors defeated the Minnesota Timberwolves 126-113 at Oracle Arena. It had nothing to do with Golden State’s performance — the Warriors beat a good team to improve their NBA-best record — or any pressing issues facing the organization. Instead, the Warriors coach was “rattled” because he thought one reporter asking a question actually was San Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo. Truth be told, the inquiring mind did not belong to Jimmy G, who’s set to become a free agent after an impressive string of performances down the stretch following an October trade fr... NESN.com

MLB Rumors: Giants Players Not Sold On Possible Pablo Sandoval Reunion
Share this: Pablo Sandoval might soon return to the organization with which he won three World Series titles, but it doesn’t sound like everyone is onboard with a possible reunion. Although Sandoval denied reports that surfaced Wednesday saying he agreed to a minor league contract with the Giants, the former Boston Red Sox third baseman acknowledged that a return to San Francisco is possible. That said, CSN Bay Area’s Alex Pavlovic reported Wednesday that several Giants players and employees aren’t exactly ready to welcome Kung Fu Panda back with open arms. “For two days over the weekend, I chatted with players and team employees about the possibility of Sandoval returning,” Pavlovic wrote. “I didn’t find one who was eager for the move.” The Giants obviously
Reuben Foster Hung Up On Saints When 49ers Picked Him In NFL Draft
Share this: Reuben Foster had to sweat it out on the first night of the NFL Draft on Thursday. The Alabama linebacker eventually was scooped up by the San Francisco 49ers with the No. 31 overall pick, but the Niners weren’t the only team interested in Foster’s services. Just moments before San Francisco made its selection, Foster received a call from the New Orleans Saints, who expressed interest in selecting him at No. 32. Unfortunately for the Saints, John Lynch and the 49ers swooped in and grabbed Foster before they had the chance. And in an effort to avoid an awkward conversation, Foster simply hung up on New Orleans as he learned of his new NFL home. Foster explained the hilarious sequence Friday, which you
GM Reportedly Will Deploy World’s Largest Fleet Of Self-Driving Cars
It’s pretty difficult at this point to determine which automaker is the most serious about developing self-driving vehicles in the United States. General Motors, though, might have plans to distance itself from the pack. The U.S. automaker plans to soon deploy 300 Chevrolet Bolts fitted with self-driving technology, Spectrum reported Friday. If true, GM would sport the world’s largest fleet of autonomous vehicles, placing it well ahead of Waymo, which currently owns the largest such fleet at nearly 80 vehicles. GM currently has around 50 driverless cars deployed across San Francisco, Scottsdale, Ariz., and Detroit. In addition to expanding its vehi... NESN.com
49ers Make Surprising Hire Of John Lynch To Be General Manager
UPDATE (Sunday, Jan. 29, at 10:12 p.m. ET): The hire is official. ORIGINAL STORY: The San Francisco 49ers have taken the first step toward rebuilding their organization. The 49ers have reportedly hired former safety and Hall-of-Fame candidate John Lynch to be their new general manager, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. San Francisco parted ways with general manager Trent Baalke and head coach Chip Kelly on Jan. 1 after a disastrous 2-14 season, and apparently, the 49ers know that the rebuild might take some time. Lynch has no previous front office experience, and the decision to hire him apparen... NESN.com
