The first free practice session for the Formula One Mexican Grand Prix was something of a crapshoot. Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez always is a difficult track to get comfortable on, though it was made even more difficult Friday because the series has yet to race on the Mexico City track. Drivers therefore had to figure out how their 2017-spec F1 cars behave 7,500 feet above sea level, as was evident from the copious spins in FP1. Throughout the entire session, teams struggled to get their cars to work on the dirty track in thin air. As a result, everybody from Force India reserve driver Alfonso Celis, to three-time world champion Lewis Hamilton had a corner g... NESN.com

Celtics Save $8 Million In Cap Space By Waiving Center Tyler Zeller
The Boston Celtics needed to clear cap space as they try to make a big splash in free agency, and Tyler Zeller became a cap casualty Sunday. The Celtics announced they had waived the veteran center on Twitter. Zeller, who saw his role reduced with the addition of Al Horford, was set to be paid $ 8 million if he was not waived by Sunday. Zeller spent the past three seasons with the Celtics after coming over from the Clevland Cavaliers in a three-team trade with the Brooklyn Nets in July of 2014. The 27-year-old center averaged 3.5 points and 2.4 rebounds for the Celtics during the 2016-17 NBA season. Thumbnail photo via Jeremy

Red Sox’s Craig Kimbrel Overpowers Brewers With Filthy Ninth Inning
Share this: The Milwaukee Brewers didn’t stand a chance against Boston Red Sox closer Craig Kimbrel on Thursday afternoon. After Mookie Betts gave the Red Sox a three-run lead with a go-ahead blast in the ninth inning, Kimbrel came on for the save and struck out the side in overpowering fashion to preserve Boston’s 4-1 victory. Here are all three of Kimbrel’s filthy punchout pitches. Kimbrel has been dominant in the early stages of the 2017 season. The right-hander has converted on all 10 save opportunities and currently has an ERA of 1.15 to go along with 31 strikeouts. And it’s been the strikeout pitch that’s been working for Kimbrel lately. Red Sox Notes: Boston Newcomers Putting In Work Amid Slow Offensive Start
Share this: The Boston Red Sox’s normally red-hot offense has been a little cold to begin the 2017 season, but that hasn’t been the case for Boston’s newest additions. Various ailments and injuries have prevented a handful the Red Sox’s best hitters from playing at their highest level in the first 11 games, with Andrew Benintendi currently batting .238, Mookie Betts batting .250 and Hanley Ramirez batting .241 after all three hitters went 0-for-4 in Boston’s 2-1 win over the Tampa Bay Rays on Saturday. But while that trio was expected to be a big part of continuing the Red Sox’s offensive production without David Ortiz, the guy who actually “replaced” Big Papi has been exceeding expectations. Mitch Moreland went 3-for-4 on Saturday
Anton Khudobin Denies Kings’ Drew Doughty With Sweet Glove Save
Share this: Boston Bruins starting goaltender Tuukka Rask had Thursday night off, but backup netminder Anton Khudobin filled in just fine. Khudobin turned in a stellar performance in the Bruins’ 4-1 victory over the Los Angeles Kings, turning away 27 of 28 Kings’ shot attempts. Arguably his best save of the night came at the expense of Los Angeles forward Drew Doughty, who was robbed of a goal via a slick Khudobin glove save.
