Red Sox Notes: Lack Of Run Support Troubling Rick Porcello This Season

Red Sox Notes: Lack Of Run Support Troubling Rick Porcello This Season

Aside from being dominant on the mound, Rick Porcello’s march to the 2016 American League Cy Young Award was assisted by the Boston Red Sox bats. The right-hander received an outpouring of run support in nearly every start last season, which helped him amass a 22-4 record en route to baseball’s highest pitching honor. It’s been a much different tale of the tape this season, though, as the Red Sox offense, for whatever reason, has been quiet on nights Porcello takes the hill. Wednesday’s outing was no different, as Boston was defeated 4-1 by the Minnesota Twins, marking Porcello’s 10th loss of the 2017 campaign. To be clear, Porcello ha... NESN.com

Russell Westbrook Receives Congratulatory Note From Michael Jordan After MVP Win

Share this: Russell Westbrook won the 2016-17 NBA MVP award Monday night, and he likely received congratulatory messages from many different people. One of those notes, however, probably means a little more than most to the Oklahoma City Thunder guard. That would be the message NBA legend Michael Jordan sent Westbrook, who’s also part of Jordan Brand. Jordan took home five MVP awards over the course of his 15-year career. And as he mentions in the note above, he won his first MVP (1988) before winning his first NBA Finals with the Chicago Bulls in 1991. Westbrook even accomplished something this past season that Jordan never did, and that’s averaging a triple-double over an entire season. The only other player to do that was

Red Sox Notes: Chris Sale Praises Boston’s Bullpen For Shutting Door Vs. Twins

Share this: Chris Sale was good Monday night against the Minnesota Twins, but he wasn’t great. The Boston Red Sox left-hander tossed 6 1/3 innings, allowing only one run on four hits with nine strikeouts. Sale didn’t face too much trouble in his outing, but a rocky start to the seventh inning forced him out of the ballgame. Heath Hembree followed Sale, and induced an inning-ending double play to get out of the seventh. Matt Barnes then hurled a flawless eighth frame in which he struck out the side, and Craig Kimbrel nailed down the victory for his 21st save of the season to ensure Boston’s 4-1 victory. After the game, Sale had high praise for Boston’s relief pitchers, not just for their performance against the

NBA Rumors: Celtics Were Concerned Markelle Fultz Wasn’t A Winner

Share this: Markelle Fultz is a remarkable talent on the basketball court, but is the likely No. 1 overall selection in the 2017 NBA Draft a winner? The Washington guard led his team to a 9-22 record in his only season in Seattle, and apparently, that’s one of the reasons the Boston Celtics opted to pass on the multi-faceted Fultz when they reportedly agreed to trade the top selection in Thursday’s draft to the Philadelphia 76ers. I'm told in addition to this, Boston "had serious concerns about Fultz being a winner. Too many red flags there to pick him at #1." https://t.co/JqKes2BIAZ — Keith Smith (@KeithSmithNBA) June 18, 2017 The C’s reportedly will receive the No. 3 overall pick in the 2017 draft, as well

Red Sox Notes: Short Outings Becoming Common Occurrence For Drew Pomeranz

Share this: The hope for a starting pitcher is to go deep into a ballgame and put your team in good position to win. Unfortunately for the Boston Red Sox, Drew Pomeranz hasn’t able to do that very often in the 2017 season. Pomeranz struggled through another short outing Friday night in the Red Sox’s 8-3 loss to the Detroit Tigers at Fenway Park. The left-hander only lasted 4 1/3 innings, allowing six runs (five earned) on eight hits with two walks. Since Boston traded for Pomeranz at the MLB All-Star break last season, the 28-year-old hasn’t been much of an innings eater. The lefty employs a rather slow pace on the mound and often tries to dance around the strike zone with off-speed pitches

Watch Marshawn Lynch Show Flashes Of ‘Beast Mode’ In Raiders Practice

Share this: Marshawn Lynch hasn’t played in an NFL game since January 2016, but the powerful running back doesn’t look like he’s very rusty. Lynch looked like his old “Beast Mode” self during Oakland Raiders practice Monday, showcasing sharp cuts and impressive burst. Granted, it’s only practice, but the Raiders have to like what they see from Lynch after his brief retirement. Lynch originally called it quits on his football career after the Seattle Seahawks were bounced from the playoffs in the 2015 season. After sitting out the entire 2016 campaign, the 31-year-old announced his NFL comeback and was traded to Oakland along with Seattle’s sixth-round pick in exchange for the Raiders’ 2018 fifth-round selection on April 26. The Bay Area native signed a two-year,
