Share this: Hue Jackson couldn’t have been any clearer Monday. The Cleveland Browns head coach said point blank the team has no plans to trade Pro Bowl left tackle Joe Thomas. This comes one day after ProFootballTalk’s Mike Florio, citing a source with knowledge of the situation, reported that a trade involving Thomas is possible this season. “We. Are. Not. Going. To. Trade. Joe. Thomas.” — Hue Jackson — Cleveland Browns (@Browns) October 24, 2016 Thomas, who was selected third overall in 2007, has been named to the Pro Bowl in each of his nine seasons. The 31-year-old still is considered one of the best left tackles in the NFL, so he’d almost certainly draw plenty of interest if the Browns decided to make a move. Unfortunately

Celtics Rank With Spurs, Raptors In ESPN’s Tiers Of NBA Teams For 2016-17
Share this: There’s no doubt expectations are high this season for the Boston Celtics. The Celtics’ over/under for regular-season wins is 52.5, and they have the fourth-best odds to win the NBA Finals at +1800, according to Bovada. The only teams Bovada projects to win more games than the C’s are the Warriors, Cavaliers, Spurs and Los Angeles Clippers, and only Golden State, Cleveland and San Antonio have better odds to win the championship. And in the latest sign that Boston is projected to be a real contender this season, ESPN’s Zach Lowe has the Celtics ranked with the Spurs and Toronto Raptors as the “Best of the Rest,” trailing only the Warriors, Cavaliers and Clippers. Lowe did offer some potential pitfalls for the Celtics, though.
Steven Hauschka’s Name Actually Is Stephen, But He Hasn’t Corrected Anyone In Years
Here’s your weird sports of the day: Everyone has been spelling Steven Hauschka’s name wrong for his entire NFL career. KCPQ-TV in Seattle was doing a segment with the Seahawks kicker when producer Dusty Lane double-checked the spelling of Hauschka’s last name. However, as Lane tells it, he should’ve been checking the first. A photographer checked with Hauschka and learned that the kicker’s first name actually is spelled “Stephen” rather than “Steven.” “There was a little mix-up in college,” Hauschka said, per Lane. So why didn’t the Needham, Mass., native correct anyone until his ninth season in the league? “Uh ... NESN.com

Bruins’ Offense Was Terrific, But Tuukka Rask Won Monday’s Game For Boston
Share this: The Boston Bruins took home a decisive 4-1 victory Monday night, and while the offense should be noted in a balanced scoring attack, it’s Tuukka Rask who should make all the headlines. Boston’s goaltender stopped 34 of 35 shots he faced and kept the Winnipeg Jets scoreless on five power play attempts while Boston struggled to get moving. And the cherry on top? Rask recorded two assists — the most he’s scored in a season since 2013-14 and one shy of tying his career high for a single season. B’s coach Claude Julien joined NESN’s Jack Edwards and Andy Brickley following Monday’s road win to discuss Rask’s impact on the game, among other things. Check it out in the video above. Thumbnail
Poll: Could The 2007-08 Celtics Take Down Warriors’ Current ‘Superteam’?
Share this: The Golden State Warriors are taking the idea of an NBA “superteam” to a whole new level, and the rest of the league isn’t too happy about it. Paul Pierce was the latest to sound off about Kevin Durant’s decision to sign with the Warriors this offseason, making them the clear favorites to win the 2017 NBA title after posting an NBA-record 73 wins last season. Those comments didn’t sit well with Golden State’s Draymond Green, who fired back at Pierce on Thursday. Their bickering got us thinking: Can the Warriors be the best superteam of all time, or would a team like Pierce’s 2007-08 Boston Celtics give them a run for their money? That Celtics team, after all, went 66-16 and won
