Mario Aji took his first ever Idemitsu Asia Talent Cup victory in Race 1 at Sepang International Circuit, narrowly beating Australian Bill van Eerde following a final corner attack. Throwback…Monday! Rossi sports 1996 replica lid at Sepang

Way back when, there was a young rider from Tavullia just starting his career. Getting ready to take on the world, Valentino Rossi (Movistar Yamaha MotoGP) would go on to fight that fight and win it nine times…so far, at least. But even back then, the Italian had some distinctive signs of the personality he would become – including the sun and moon logos he still wears today. Sepang: ‘DesmoDovi’ on cloud nine

It was a race of attrition, with big names – and previous wet weather winners – crashing out. The likes of Marc Marquez, Cal Crutchlow and Andrea Iannone all hit the deck at Sepang, and even Rossi struggled, just keeping it on the road to take second after a difficult time on his front tyre in the latter stages. Teammate Jorge Lorenzo crossed the line to take the podium, but Rossi gained just enough on the ‘Spartan’ to secure runner up in the title fight. Source link
