Patriots’ Chris Hogan Inks 1-Day Contract With NLL’s Black Wolves
Share this: Did you know Chris Hogan used to play lacrosse? We’re guessing you do, as the anecdote frequently was mentioned throughout the New England Patriots’ 2016-17 campaign. The Pats wideout played collegiate lacrosse for three seasons at Penn State before transferring to Monmouth, where he’d trade his lacrosse stick for football pads. The transition to football ended up working out pretty well for Hogan, as he recently became a Super Bowl champion as a result of New England’s thrilling victory in Super Bowl LI. Hogan evidently still has the itch for lacrosse, though, as he officially returned to the sport Friday. Well, kind of. MIT Finds Carpooling With Uber, Lyft Could Reduce Number Of New York Taxis
Share this: Looks like sharing really is caring, as far as the everyday commuter and environment are concerned. But don’t tell that to traditional taxi drivers. According to a study done by researchers at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, increased carpooling through ride-hailing services, like Uber and Lyft, could eliminate the need for the roughly 14,000 taxis roaming the streets of New York. The study was conducted by Professor Daniela Rus of MIT’s Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory, and uses computer models to show how carpooling, when in conjunction with ride-hailing apps, could drastically alter commuting conditions in urban environments. As few as 3,000 four-passenger cars could serve 94 percent of New York’s commuting demand, while 2,000 ten-person vehicles would increase that figure to

Red Sox Recall Joe Kelly From Triple-A Pawtucket To Serve As Reliever
Share this: Joe Kelly is back in the majors, albeit serving in a different role. The Boston Red Sox on Sunday recalled the 28-year-old right-hander from Triple-A Pawtucket, filling the roster spot opened up by Heath Hembree’s demotion to the PawSox. Kelly, who hasn’t pitched in a big league game since June 1, is expected to serve as a reliever for Boston, a role he hasn’t performed in the majors since the beginning of his career — his last relief appearance was on Sept. 29, 2013, with the St. Louis Cardinals. Kelly did thrive as a reliever during his recent five-game stint in Pawtucket, pitching five scoreless innings of relief in five appearances while striking out nine and walking one. Kelly has struggled as a starter
