Malcolm Butler Signs Patriots’ First-Round Tender, Now Can Be Traded

Share this: Cornerback Malcolm Butler officially is under contract with the New England Patriots. Butler signed the first-round tender given to him by the Patriots on Tuesday. That means he won’t be signed to a restricted free-agent offer sheet by another team. The Patriots now can discuss Butler in trades. Prior to Butler signing, discussing him in trades was against NFL rules. The New Orleans Saints hosted Butler on a free-agent visit last month. If Butler isn’t traded, he will play in 2017 on a one-year $3.91 million deal unless he and the Patriots agree to a long-term contract. Timberwolves-Blazers Game Postponed Due To Slippery Court Conditions

Share this: The Minnesota Timberwolves and Portland Trail Blazers were supposed to play an important game Monday night as the two clubs try to climb into the Western Conference playoff picture. That game, however, will have to be played at another time as the game was postponed due to slippery court conditions. The slippery conditions were caused by condensation from a sheet of ice underneath the court. The ice sheet was placed there to accommodate a Disney On Ice performance this past weekend, as well as the upcoming National Collegiate Hockey Conference Tournament. Bruins’ Confidence in Young Defensemen Paying Off, Trio All Factoring Into Score Sheet (Video)

The Bruins’ defense played a big role in their 5-2 win on Sunday over the New York Rangers. Torey Krug and Johnny Boychuck each netted goals, and Matt Bartkowski and Dougie Hamilton were both credited with assists. Though they may be young, Krug, Bartkowski and Hamilton have proved themselves worthy of head coach Claude Julien‘s confidence moving forward in the series. Julien said he has encouraged the young players to continue doing the things they know they do well in order to continue making an impact.
