Jordan Spieth Wins Travelers Championship With Crazy Chip From Bunker

Share this: The golf world knows just how good Jordan Spieth is, but every now and again, the 23-year-old reminds you why he’s one of the top players in the world. Spieth and Daniel Berger were deadlocked at 12-under-par after Sunday’s final round at the Travelers Championship. And after two off-target shots on the first playoff hole, Spieth found himself in the bunker on the par-4 18th. But thanks to an unbelievable chip shot, Spieth birdied the hole and sealed the victory at TPC River Highlands, his 10th career win on the PGA Tour. And even in defeat, Berger couldn’t help but give kudos to his opponent’s remarkable shot. All in all, it was quite the weekend in Cromwell, Conn. Thumbnail photo via Bill Streicher/USA TODAY

Kevin Durant Begins To Create Legacy With Fourth-Quarter Heroics In Game 3

Share this: Kevin Durant said he’d been practicing the shot for his entire life, and a lifetime of preparation paid off Wednesday night at Quicken Loans Arena. Durant went on a personal 7-0 run over the final two minutes of Game 3 of the NBA Finals to propel his Golden State Warriors to a 118-113 win over the Cleveland Cavaliers. LeBron James and Kyrie Irving combined for 77 points, and James rested only two minutes the entire game. But even with James and Irving playing at an other-worldly level, Durant’s cold-blooded pull-up 3-pointer with 45 seconds left made their efforts just a footnote in NBA history. The Warriors been on a mission from the minute the buzzer sounded following their NBA Finals collapse last year, and

Share this: A series of blunders hurt the Boston Red Sox as they fell to the Chicago Cubs 7-4 on Saturday afternoon at Fenway Park. Boston held a 4-3 lead heading into the seventh inning, but Chicago would capitalize on two Red Sox errors to score three runs in the frame. Hanley Ramirez and Andrew Benintendi went deep for the Sox, while Anthony Rizzo, Miguel Montero and Ben Zobrist rounded the bases for the Cubs. With the loss, Boston falls to 12-11 while Chicago improves to 12-11. Here’s how it all went down. GAME IN A WORDSloppy. The Red Sox were in good shape, and then came in the seventh inning.

Bruce Cassidy Lauds Rookie Charlie McAvoy As ‘Special Talent’ For Bruins

Share this: BOSTON — Asking a 19-year-old rookie defenseman to play his first NHL action against a quality opponent in the Stanley Cup playoffs is far from ideal, but Charlie McAvoy has stepped into this situation and thrived for the Boston Bruins. The Bruins’ first-round pick in the 2016 NHL Draft made his debut in Game 1 of Boston’s first-round playoff series against the Ottawa Senators, and he hasn’t looked much like a first-year player through the first four games. “He’s a heck of a talent,” Bruins interim coach Bruce Cassidy said of McAvoy. “He wants the puck. He wants to be out there in big moments. Boston Bruins fans are seeing something right now that they’re truly going to appreciate for years. Just

Taj Gibson Throws Prayer Mile High From Other End Of Court, Somehow Drains Shot

We tend to call way too many sports plays “incredible”, but we really can’t think of anything else to say about what the Oklahoma City Thunder’s Taj Gibson did at the halftime buzzer Thursday night. The Portland Trail Blazers went for the old lob pass off an inbounds play to try to get one last shot off before the half, but the ball ended up in Gibson’s hands instead. Since there were two seconds remaining, Gibson launched a shot of his own, probably just for the heck of it. But his mile-high heave turned into one of the luckiest shots you’ll ever see. Oh. My. Goodness. Thumbnail photo via Mark D. Smith/USA TODAY

Avery Bradley’s Lock-Down Defense Just One Part Of Wild Celtics-Cavs Finish

Share this: The Boston Celtics and Cleveland Cavaliers played one of the best basketball games of the season Wednesday night, and much of the postgame talk centered around the wonderful on-ball defense of Boston guard Avery Bradley. The veteran guard reminded everyone how dangerous the Celtics can be when he’s on the guard and giving the C’s lock-down defensive efforts in crunch time, matching Cleveland star Kyrie Irving step for step in the final seconds. Bradley is getting all the credit for his one-on-one play, and he certainly deserves a sizable chunk of the praise. His footwork and general sticktoitiveness was borderline mesmerizing, especially when you consider Irving is capable of doing this: Or this: [embedded content] So Irving obviously gets full marks for his ridiculous

Bruins Wrap: Brad Marchand’s Goals Not Enough As Capitals Snap B’s Win Streak

Share this: The Boston Bruins were not able to win their fourth straight game Wednesday night in Washington. The B’s had their win streak snapped in a 5-3 loss to the Capitals, who’ve now won eight consecutive games against Boston and seven of the last eight meetings at the Verizon Center. Brad Marchand was the best player on the ice for the Bruins. He scored two more goals to increase his team-leading total to 23. The loss drops the Bruins to 26-22-6, while the Caps improve to 34-11-6. Here’s how it all went down. CAPITALS STIKE FIRSTThe Capitals opened the scoring at 3:06 of the first period when Nicklas Backstrom made a slick pass through the neutral zone to spring T.J. Oshie for a breakaway. Oshie
