So, when the Cleveland Indians left fielder’s name was called to pinch hit for reliever Andrew Miller in the top of the seventh inning Friday night at Wrigley Field, we probably should have predicted he’d do something like this: That RBI pinch-hit single proved to be the difference, as the Indians took Game 3 1-0. Kluber, Cleveland’s ace, pitched six strong innings, scattering four hits and striking out nine batters. In the second inning, Kluber became the first Indians pitcher ever to strike out the side in a World Series game. Andrew Miller took over for Kluber from there, and though he got himself into a jam in the seventh and eighth innings — including a bases loaded, no-out jam in the seventh — he escaped unharmed and preserved what at the time was a 3-0 lead. The Red Sox right fielder and American League MVP candidate started Monday night’s game with a bang, ripping a two-RBI double to left field in the first inning. But Betts had another trick up his sleeve when Hanley Ramirez followed him with a base hit. Orioles left fielder Steve Pearce calmly fielded Ramirez’s bloop single, as Betts held at third base. Citing longtime New York Military Academy coach Ted Dobias, The New York Times’ Victor Mather reported Thursday on the story of Trump’s game-winning hit in the 1964 Prep School Championship. “The score was 4-4 with runners on second and third,” Mather wrote. “In a pressure-packed situation, the batter delivered a hit to right-center to win the game. “That batter?
