It’s only one start, but Doug Fister had his best outing in a Boston Red Sox uniform Monday night. The Sox beat the Cleveland Indians 6-2 at Fenway Park, and the right-hander was a big reason why. He only allowed two earned runs on five hits through 7 2/3 innings. Furthermore, those two runs came in the eighth inning, as he held the Indians scoreless throughout most of his start. Fister also walked two but had five strikeouts. To hear what Fister had to say about his outing Monday, listen to the video above from “NESN Sports Today,” presented by People’s United Bank. ... Red Sox’s Quest To Get David Ortiz One Last Ring Off To Lackluster Start
Hanley Ramirez revealed in a recent Players’ Tribune post that the Boston Red Sox set a goal in spring training to get David Ortiz a World Series ring in his final season. And so far, that plan is not going not going well at all. Well, it was going well, for a while, at least. The Red Sox surpassed all their expectations in the regular season, pulling themselves out of the American League East’s basement to win the division with a 93-69 record. But since their postseason actually has begun, it’s been a poor showing all-around. Game 1 of their AL Division Series against Cleveland saw ace Rick Porcello give up five runs over
Indians Announce ALDS Pitching Rotation; Red Sox’s Still To Be Determined
BOSTON — Where the Red Sox and Cleveland Indians will play Game 1 of the American League Division Series still is unknown. What we do know, however, is who will be on the mound for the Tribe next Thursday. Indians manager Terry Francona announced Saturday that right-hander Trevor Bauer will be the team’s Game 1 starter, with righty Corey Kluber set to pitch Game 2 on Friday. According to MLB.com’s Jordan Bastian, right-hander Josh Tomlin is set to start Game 3, which means Cleveland’s full rotation for the five-game series will feature all righties. Kluber is the Indians’ ace and apparently requested to pitch Game 1. But he recently m... NESN.com
