Share this: The Boston Bruins relieved Claude Julien of his head coaching duties Tuesday morning and announced that assistant Bruce Cassidy will take over as interim head coach. Julien guided the Bruins to their first Stanley Cup in over 40 years in 2011 and brought them to another final in 2013. He amassed a 419-246-94 record in his nine-plus seasons behind the Boston bench but failed to make the playoffs in the last two campaigns. The Bruins currently sit in ninth place in the Eastern Conference with a record of 26-23-6. Bruins Prepare For Defending Champion Penguins After Huge Win Over Red Wings
The Boston Bruins were back at practice Wednesday after a much-needed 4-3 win in overtime against the Detroit Red Wings on Tuesday night. The schedule doesn’t get any easier, though. The defending Stanley Cup champion Pittsburgh Penguins visit TD Garden on Thursday night. They beat the Bruins 5-1 last weekend. Capitals Star Alex Ovechkin Marries Russian Model Nastya Shubskaya
Share this: Alex Ovechkin finally got a ring. Well, not a Stanley Cup ring, but perhaps a more important one. The Washington Capitals superstar recently married Russian model Nastya Shubskaya. Ovechkin tweeted a picture of their rings over the weekend, with a caption translated from Russian that says “this is happiness.” Ovechkin is coming off a disappointing end to the 2015-16 NHL season, during which his Capitals were upset by the rival Pittsburgh Penguins in the second round of the Stanley Cup playoffs.
