‘NESN Around’ Podcast: Trying To Make Sense Of Tony Romo-Mavericks Stunt

Share this: [embedded content] Tony Romo was a fine quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys, but the QB’s exit from the Big D has been nothing short of bizarre. Romo, somewhat surprisingly, announced his retirement from football earlier this month, taking a job with CBS as their No. 1 football analyst starting next season. It was a somewhat awkward end to his Dallas tenure where he set plenty of records but never really had too much postseason success. The Cowboys have stayed relatively quiet since Romo’s exit, but the Dallas Mavericks have been another story. Mark Cuban and the Mavs invited Romo to go through the pregame paces as a uniformed player and actually wanted him to play in the game only to be shot

NFL Rumors: Tony Romo Going To CBS, Will Replace Phil Simms As Top Analyst

Share this: We now know where Tony Romo will land for the 2017 NFL season, and it’s in the TV booth and not the football field. Sports Business Journal reported Tuesday morning, citing sources, that Romo will replace Phil Simms as the lead NFL color analyst for CBS during the 2017 season. According to the report, the two sides haven’t hammered out the details and nothing has been signed, but the two sides do have an agreement. Romo will work alongside the network’s top play-by-play man Jim Nantz. An official announcement is expected at some point Tuesday, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. There’s been some debate as to whether the Cowboys should give Romo reps with a first-round bye locked up. Prescott has been excellent this season, but with each snap

What Does Jerry Jones’ Tom Brady Reference Mean For Cowboys’ QB Debate?

Share this: The Dallas Cowboys have an impending quarterback controversy on their hands, and the 2001 New England Patriots might be able to relate. Tony Romo is expected to return soon from a back injury that’s kept him out the entire season to date. The Cowboys haven’t exactly missed him, though, as rookie backup Dak Prescott has led Dallas to a 5-1 start. Jerry Jones initially insisted Romo would get his job back when healthy, but the Cowboys owner has backed off that stance in recent weeks. During a radio appearance Tuesday, Jones was asked if Romo deserves his job back based on his reputation alone and gave an interesting answer. “I think we all recognize that there comes a time,” Jones told 105.3 The
