I felt some strange sliding on the wet, completely different than on the dry, so we have to analyse it. I think we still have to work. It was the first time I went out on the Yamaha in the rain, so there is a lot of work to do on the wet set-up, but I‘m happy. In the end, I‘m the first Yamaha and Valentino is always really fast on the wet, so I‘m quite satisfied and confident. It‘s only the second row. Dovizioso: “I decided to not go crazy!”

Andrea Dovizioso (P2): “I started quite well and Valentino didn’t, but we went for the same bit of track and I lost some positions. I decided not to push 100% then and not be crazy, because I saw Marc and Valentino had more speed than me – then after Valentino crashed I tried to push and catch Lorenzo. He didn’t seem 100% after his crash, he wasn’t riding like normal, but he was still so fast. Mid-Season Review – Valentino Rossi

Just when it looked liked the ‘Doctor’ had clawed his way back into the fight for the title, Rossi was caught out by the tricky conditions at a wet Assen, crashing while leading the restarted race. Another disastrous result followed in the flag-to-flag race at the Sachsenring, as Rossi could only manage to cross the line in eighth. Valentino Rossi returns to winning ways

The Dutch weekend of the 2013 season has proven to be action-packed, both on and off the track, ever since the MotoGP community arrived at Assen earlier in the week. Lorenzo generated many of the headlines, having been cleared to race less than four hours before the start and having travelled back from an operation in Barcelona.
