Atlético face must-win Chelsea finale
Club Atlético de Madrid are up against it as they stake a claim for a top-two finish in Group C, needing victory at Chelsea FC – who booked their round of 16 place in the penultimate fixture – and for the other result to go their way.• Atlético lost 2-1 to Chelsea on matchday two in the first European game played at their new Estadio Metropolitano home, and had to wait until their fifth fixture, a 2-0 home victory against AS Roma, to get their first win on the board in this season's UEFA Champions League. • Diego Simeone's Atlético therefore
Ricky Stenhouse Jr. Ready To Celebrate Daytona Win At July Fourth Cookout
Share this: Racing drivers always say their first win was the hardest, and they come easy after that. Well, Ricky Stenhouse Jr. sure made it seem that way when he picked up his second Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series win on Saturday. Stenhouse passed David Ragan for the lead with two laps remaining in the Coke Zero 400 Powered by Coca-Cola, and stayed there until the checkered flag flew. The win is his second Cup victory, and his first at Daytona Internationals Speedway, so Stenhouse was glad he already had a party planned. During his victory lane interview, Stenhouse told NBC Sports, “I already had a Fourth of July party planned, but I guess it just got bigger.” The 29-year-old Roush Fenway Racing driver
Rossi: "I race for this feeling"
Valentino Rossi, P1: “It’s a very important victory, not only for the Championship but the feeling – coming back to number one is fantastic, after one year. I race motorcycles for this feeling, for how I feel for five or six hours after the race – especially after a year without victory. It was a great race, a great battle with Petrucci and from a technical standpoint I’m happy. We’ve worked on the bike and changed the chassis, and now it’s like I’m more able to ride it in my way, in a better way. Everything is open, and from one track to it another can change a lot – so we have to wait and see at Sachsenring. But
Mitch Moreland Praises Red Sox For Grinding Out At-Bats In Friday’s Win
Share this: It wasn’t easy, but the Boston Red Sox picked up a 5-3 comeback victory over the Detroit Tigers on Friday night at Fenway Park. While Jackie Bradley Jr played the role of hero with his go-ahead home run, Mitch Moreland also had a fine night at the plate for the Red Sox. The first baseman went 3-for-4 with a home run and a double, as well as a game-tying RBI single in the eighth inning. After the game, Moreland praised his teammates for grinding out at-bats and creating opportunities, which helped lead Boston to a victory. Jimmie Johnson Ties Cale Yarborough On All-Time Wins List At Monster Mile
Share this: Jimmie Johnson’s NASCAR résumé is among the best ever, and he continued his ascent up the sport’s all-time wins list with Sunday’s victory in the AAA 400 Drive for Autism at Dover International Speedway. It was Johnson’s 83rd career win, tying him with Cale Yarborough for fifth-most all-time. He now trails only Bobby Allison and Darrell Waltrip by one on the career wins leaderboard. Johnson didn’t lead much of Sunday’s Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race — just seven laps, in fact — but he made his move after the overtime restart. A huge wreck shortly before that set up a wild finish. Despite leading the majority of the laps, Kyle Larson had to settle for second place after not being able to
Watch Kyle Busch’s Million-Dollar Moment From NASCAR’s All-Star Race
Share this: Kyle Busch still hasn’t taken a checkered flag in a points race this season. But even though his victory in Saturday’s NASCAR All-Star Race won’t bring him any closer to the playoffs, he’s probably celebrating like he did. That’s because in visiting victory lane for the first time in 2017, Busch earned himself a cool $1 million. After qualifying for a spot among nine other drivers in the race’s final 10-lap shootout, Busch, as he’s done so often, used an impressive jump off the restart to claim a lead he never relinquished. The Joe Gibbs Racing driver then parked his No. 18 M&M’s Toyota Camry and celebrated as he usually does, except this time with a hefty check. We don’t want to take
