Patriots Will Look to Slow Surging Colts During Divisional Round of Playoffs at Gillette (Video)

The New England Patriots will host the Indianapolis Colts in the divisional round of the playoffs on Saturday night. The Colts, who were able to overcome a 28-point deficit to pull off the unbelievable 45-44 win against the Kansas City Chiefs in the wild-card round, will look to build off that momentum when they come into Gillette this weekend. With Andrew Luck at the helm, the Pats will be tasked with slowing down the Indy offense and making sure they find a way to contain T.Y. Hilton. Offensively, New England will look to take advantage of the Colts defense that ranks 26th in rushing yards allowed. The tandem of LeGarrette Blount and Stevan Ridley will be key for the Patriots success. Check out the above

Dodgers Fans Taunt Braves With Tomahawk Chop During Game 3 Rout (Video)

by Zack Cox on Mon, Oct 7, 2013 at 11:22AM As Wil Myers and Johnny Cueto can attest, baseball fans have been ruthless toward visiting players throughout the first week of the postseason. Dodger Stadium joined in on the fun Sunday night. After dropping Game 2 of the National League division series by a run in Atlanta, the Dodgers gave the Braves the business back home in Game 3. Los Angeles hung six runs on rookie right-hander Julio Teheran in just 2 2/3 innings en route to a 13-6 rout of the NL East champs, putting the Dodgers just one win away from a trip to the NLCS. Fans in Chavez Ravine were clearly enjoying themselves as their team racked up the highest run total

Bruins’ Confidence in Young Defensemen Paying Off, Trio All Factoring Into Score Sheet (Video)

The Bruins’ defense played a big role in their 5-2 win on Sunday over the New York Rangers. Torey Krug and Johnny Boychuck each netted goals, and Matt Bartkowski and Dougie Hamilton were both credited with assists. Though they may be young, Krug, Bartkowski and Hamilton have proved themselves worthy of head coach Claude Julien‘s confidence moving forward in the series. Julien said he has encouraged the young players to continue doing the things they know they do well in order to continue making an impact. Hear more from Krug, Boychuck and Julien in the video above, or check it out on NESN’s YouTube channel.

‘The Daily Show’ Mocks NCAA’s ‘Perfectly Fair’ Rules Behind Eligibility, Player Compensation (Video)

The Daily Show and Jon Stewart just seem to have a way of breaking issues down to their most basic points, or finding examples of hypocrisy and shining a light on them. On Thursday night’s episode, the NCAA was firmly in their sights. Correspondent Asif Mandvi profiled University of Minnesota wrestler Joel Bauman, who’s NCAA eligibility was revoked after he published a rap song under his own name. According to NCAA rules, student athletes are not allowed to profit from their names in any way. The segment contrasts Bauman’s plight with that of former UCLA basketball player Ed O’Bannon, who is suing the NCAA for using his likeness in the EA Sports video game NCAA Basketball 09. Tale of Bruins’ Struggles Starting to Sound Like Broken Record After ‘Saturday Snoozer’ Loss to Flyers (Video)

The Bruins moved one game closer to the end of March on Saturday, and that’s all that can really be said about the team’s performance. The sooner the B’s can get past this month, it seems, the better. Boston’s tough schedule seems to still be sapping the team of its potential, as another slow start ultimately doomed the B’s. Philadelphia, on the other hand, showed little difficulty in setting the tone early during this afternoon game, thanks in large part to Mike Knuble‘s early goal. NESN Nation’s Dan Duquette is awarding Knuble our “Saturday Snoozer” player of the game. Who’s yours? Take Our Poll Join NESN Nation: In-game home page | Twitter | Facebook

DeAndre Jordan Throws Down Monster Alley-Oop Dunk Over Brandon Knight (Video)

by Zack Cox on Sun, Mar 10, 2013 at 11:58PM It has been said before on this site that if the NBA awarded extra points for dunks, the Clippers would finish every season 82-0. DeAndre Jordan continued to prove that Sunday night, when he absolutely posterized Detroit’s Brandon Knight with an alley-oop slam that’s sure to top most “dunk of the year” rankings. Even Jordan was caught off guard by the magnitude of his slam, giving a “sheepish grin” as he made his way down the court while the Staples Center crowd erupted. Check out Jordan’s ridiculous dunk in the video below, and keep reading to see a sampling of the reaction it elicited on Twitter.
