Rossi: “We don‘t have the feeling or enough confidence”

It’s rare to see Valentino Rossi (Movistar Yamaha MotoGP) outside the top ten; it’s even rarer to see all four of the Yamaha riders outside of the top ten. The GoPro Motorrad Grand Prix Deutschland got off to a difficult start, a damp and cold track resulting in a terrible first day for Yamaha. Free Practice 1 was cut short by spots of rain, Rossi electing to remain in the pits rather than go back out in the wet. The second session of the day began in similar circumstances, Rossi not waiting around this time. Despite improving his FP1 time by 0.757s, ‘The Doctor’ concluded Friday in 14th overall....

Zarco: “We all knew that this race was for Luis”

From Saturday onwards it was clear that Johann Zarco (Ajo Motorsport) and Alex Rins (Paginas Amarillas HP 40) were the riders to beat, the pair duelling it out on Sunday. Both got shuffled back in the run down to Turn 1 but quickly recovered to lead the field. The pair escaped and Zarco watched Rins for most of the race, learning his lines, where Rins was weak and most importantly where Zarco was stronger. Seven laps from the end Zarco saw his chance and took it without a second thought, slipping past Rins and never looking back. Zarco’s pace was untouchable and he would eventually cross the line 4.180s ahead of Rins....
