BOSTON — There wasn’t a dull moment in the Red Sox’s series against the New York Yankees at Fenway Park. Sunday’s thriller was full of dingers and some exciting offense — at the expense of the pitching, though — and this one ultimately went to the Red Sox thanks to a two-run homer off the bat of catcher Christian Vazquez to give Boston an 8-7 win. Red Sox starter David Price struggled again, but he still ended up getting credit for the win in Boston’s sweep of the Yankees. Here’s how it all went down. GAME IN A WORDWild. Brock Holt Back In Red Sox’s Lineup For Series Opener Vs. Yankees
BOSTON — The Red Sox open their first series against the New York Yankees on Friday, and they get to do it in the friendly confines of Fenway Park. Brock Holt is back in the lineup after getting a day off against the Atlanta Braves on Thursday, and he’ll play in left field and bat in his usual No. 7 spot in the order. Catcher Ryan Hanigan also will take over behind the plate for left-hander Henry Owens and bat eighth. Owens made his Major League Baseball debut against the Yankees on Aug. 4, 2015, and he’ll be looking for some revenge after the Red Sox ended up going down 13-3 in that game. Owens

Things looked as though they could turn around when the Sox put up three runs in the fourth inning, but Buchholz let up three more in the bottom of the frame, and it proved
Ryan Hanigan: Joe Kelly Worked Efficiently In Win Over Yankees (Video)
After Friday night’s 19-inning marathon, the Boston Red Sox desperately needed a strong, lengthy outing from starting pitcher Joe Kelly. And Kelly delivered just that. In his 2015 debut, the right-hander pitched seven stellar innings at the Bronx, holding the New York Yankees to one hit and one run while striking out eight and walking two. Kelly, who dealt with biceps soreness in spring training, originally was expected to last just five or six innings, but needed just 93 pitches before departing after seven in Boston’s eventual 8-4 win. Kelly’s battery mate, catcher Ryan Hanigan, observed after the game that the hurler was able to ...
