There was some even-year magic Tuesday night at AT&T Stadium, but not for the San Francisco Giants.
The Chicago Cubs, just three outs from being forced to home for a decisive Game 5 in their National League Division Series against the Giants, mounted an incredible four-run rally in the top of the ninth to win the series with a 6-5 victory in Game 4. That means Chicago’s heading to the NL Championship Series, where it’ll face the winner of Thursday’s Game 5 between the Washington Nationals and Los Angeles Dodgers.
The top of the ninth was a wild roller coaster. Kris Bryant led off the inning with a single, and he later scored on a Ben Zobrist RBI double. Willson Contreras then singled in Anthony Rizzo and Zobrist to tie the game. Javier Biaz then put the icing on the cake with the go-ahead single.
Take that, billy goat!
