Avondale: Walgreens Employee stabbed stopping shoplifters


A 27-year-old male worker was stabbed Monday trying to cease a pair of shoplifters in Avondale on the Northwest Side.

About 8:35 p.m., two males tried to go away Walgreens, 3424 W. Belmont Ave., with beer they didn’t pay for and had been approached by the male worker, Chicago police mentioned.

One of the lads pulled out a knife and stabbed him within the hand earlier than each of them ran from the shop, dropping the beer on the exit, police mentioned.

The worker was taken to Community First Hospital for remedy, police mentioned. He is in good situation.

No one is in custody as Area North detectives examine.
