Braves Prospect Dansby Swanson’s First Career Homer Stays Inside The Park

Dansby Swanson’s first major league home run was anything but conventional.

The Atlanta Braves rookie shortstop made his Major League Baseball debut on Aug. 17, and his first round-tripper came Tuesday against the Washington Nationals. But Swanson’s home run never left the yard. Instead, Swanson sent a ball to deep center field, where it took a big bounce off the wall.

The speedy 22-year-old was able to stretch it into an inside-the-park home run by running the bases in 14.97 seconds.

Swanson was the Arizona Diamondbacks’ No. 1 pick out of Vanderbilt in the 2015 draft. He was one of the players the Braves got in return for pitcher Shelby Miller.

Despite Swanson’s run, the Braves lost 9-7 to the Nats.
