Costly Mistakes From Veterans Plague Bruins In OT Loss To Senators
Share this: The Boston Bruins squandered a golden opportunity Saturday afternoon at the Canadian Tire Centre. The Bruins held a two-goal third-period lead over the Ottawa Senators in Game 2 of their first-round Stanley Cup playoff series, but the Senators mounted a furious comeback en route to an overtime victory. Despite having a roster that features several young players, it was actually a few of the veterans who committed costly mistakes in Saturday’s loss. Most notably, Zdeno Chara’s delay-of-game penalty in the waning moments of the final frame. Jackie Bradley Jr. To Play In Pawtucket Tuesday, Could Rejoin Red Sox Vs. Oriole…
Share this: The Boston Red Sox’s lineup might be back to full strength in the very near future. Jackie Bradley Jr. hit the 10-day disabled list April 9 after suffering a knee injury rounding first base against the Tigers in Detroit during just the Red Sox’s fourth game of the season on April 8. But it appears that stay will be a short one. Red Sox manager John Farrell told reporters at Fenway Park before Saturday’s game against the Tampa Bay Rays that the center fielder, along with infielder Josh Rutledge, who’s on the DL with a hamstring strain, will do baserunning drills Monday and join Triple-A Pawtucket for a rehab stint Tuesday. Farrell expects Bradley to be back with the Red Sox by

Red Sox’s Pitching Staff Off To Better Start Than Last Season
Share this: Despite ugly performances from Steven Wright and Rick Porcello this week, the Boston Red Sox’s pitching staff already is off to a better start 10 games into the season compared to last year’s campaign. Through 10 games in 2017, the Red Sox offensive numbers are down from a year ago, but their pitching has improved and is trending in the right direction. The team currently has a 4.40 ERA compared to a 4.81 ERA through their first 10 games of 2016. The addition of Chris Sale certainly has helped the cause, and it should get even better when David Price returns. Red Sox Notes: Lack Of Timely, Extra-Base Hits Haunting Sox Early In Season
Share this: The Boston Red Sox suffered a disappointing loss at Fenway Park on Friday as they were thumped by the Tampa Bay Rays 10-5. Rick Porcello turned in his worst outing in recent memory. The Red Sox ace was shelled for eight runs over 4 1/3 innings of work and included four home runs, including a grand slam in the third inning. Tampa Bay’s pop at the plate is what earned it the victory, as Boston actually outhit their American League East rival by a 14-12 margin. However, only three of Boston’s hits went for extra bases (three doubles). Boston’s best scoring opportunity came when it loaded the bases in the fourth inning, but an inning-ending groundout off the bat of Pablo Sandoval
