The Brazilian duo struck within two minutes of one another, while goalkeeper Simon Mignolet thwarted both Charlie Adam and Saido Berahino with stunning saves to secure three points. Patriots’ Chris Hogan Inks 1-Day Contract With NLL’s Black Wolves

Share this: Did you know Chris Hogan used to play lacrosse? We’re guessing you do, as the anecdote frequently was mentioned throughout the New England Patriots’ 2016-17 campaign. The Pats wideout played collegiate lacrosse for three seasons at Penn State before transferring to Monmouth, where he’d trade his lacrosse stick for football pads. The transition to football ended up working out pretty well for Hogan, as he recently became a Super Bowl champion as a result of New England’s thrilling victory in Super Bowl LI. Hogan evidently still has the itch for lacrosse, though, as he officially returned to the sport Friday. Well, kind of. Hogan inked a one-day contract with the National Lacrosse League’s New England Black Wolves and will serve as honorary captain for the

NFL Rumors: LeGarrette Blount Has Offer From Patriots; Mutual Interest In Return

Share this: Even after signing running back Rex Burkhead to a hefty one-year contract, it seems there’s still a good chance the New England Patriots re-sign LeGarrette Blount. Blount has an “offer on the table” from the Patriots, CSNNE’s Mike Giardi reported Friday. Giardi reports there’s mutual interest in a return but money “matters.” NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport also reported earlier in the week both sides would prefer a return. Blount, 30, carried the ball 299 times for 1,161 yards with 18 touchdowns in 2016. He also added seven catches for 38 yards. It was by far his best NFL season. He did slow down at the end, averaging just 2.6 yards per carry in his final three regular-season games and 3.1 yards per carry in the

Bruins Look To End Regular Season On High Note Saturday Against Capitals

Share this: The Boston Bruins’ regular season comes to an end Saturday with an afternoon tilt against the Washington Capitals. With playoff implications at stake, the B’s will need to turn in a solid performance against the mighty Capitals, but they’ll have to do so without two of their best players. Brad Marchand will be serving the second game of his suspension for spearing Tampa Bay Lightning defenseman Jake Dotchin, while Torey Krug has been ruled out with a lower body injury. Saturday could mark the NHL debut of Jakob Forsbacka Karlsson, whose been cleared to play after his visa was cleared. However, interim head coach Bruce Cassidy has not committed to putting the Boston University product into action. For a full update on the

Why World Baseball Classic Isn’t To Blame For MLB Injuries

Share this: Math is the best antidote to the scapegoating of the World Baseball Classic. Figures compiled by Major League Baseball show players who participated in the last two editions of the World Baseball Classic suffer injuries less frequently than those who don’t, according to FOX Sports’ Ken Rosenthal. The numbers refute longstanding fears over WBC players’ health suffering ahead of the start of the MLB season. “Among pitchers on 40-man rosters, only one of 40 from the 2013 tournament (2.5 percent) opened the season on the disabled list, as opposed to 61 of the 605 who remained with their clubs (10.1 percent),” Rosenthal writes. “The most recent WBC produced a comparable result: Only three of 55 pitchers from the tournament (5.5 percent) opened

Tigers First Baseman Miguel Cabrera Has Impressive Numbers Vs. Red Sox

Share this: The Boston Red Sox play the Detroit Tigers at Comerica Park on Friday with first pitch at 1:10 p.m., and the Red Sox will see a familiar face in Tigers first baseman Miguel Cabrera. Cabrera has been with the Tigers since 2008 and has put together impressive numbers against the Red Sox in his career. The Tigers have tried to build a championship team around Cabrera for years, but have recently looked like a team trying to rebuild. The future for Cabrera in Detroit may be uncertain, but he will always compete when he plays the Red Sox.
