Share this: The Bruce Cassidy era in Boston is off to a nice start. The Bruins are 2-0-0 since Cassidy took over as interim head coach when Claude Julien was fired last Tuesday, but his toughest test is Sunday night at TD Garden when the B’s host the first-place Montreal Canadiens. Carey Price is expected to be the Habs’ starting goaltender, and he’s pretty much owned the Bruins throughout his career with a 24-8-4 record and a .924 save percentage. However, he’s struggled mightily in four February games. Price has a poor .875 save percentage with 13 goals allowed in those matchups. Price’s road doesn’t get any easier Sunday, as the Bruins have scored four or more goals in six of their last seven games. Boston is

Celtics Wrap: Isaiah Thomas, Kelly Olynyk Lead C’s To 112-104 Win Over Jazz
Share this: The Boston Celtics should have been tired playing their third game in four nights against a team with the third-ranked defense in the NBA. The C’s, however, shot 59.2 percent from the field en route to a 112-104 win over the Utah Jazz that wasn’t as close as the final score would indicate. Boston got off to a hot start and never let the Jazz get comfortable, leading by double digits for most of the contest before weathering a late run to secure the win. Isaiah Thomas led the Celtics with 29 points, while Kelly Olynyk (19 points, seven rebounds), Gerald Green (16 points) and Al Horford (16 points, nine rebounds) each scored in double figures for the Celtics. UFC 208 Results: Germaine de Randamie Becomes First Women’s Featherweight Champi…
Share this: History will be made Saturday night at UFC 208 in Brooklyn. The first ever women’s featherweight champion will be crowned in a bout between Holly Holm and Germaine de Randamie. Holm took the UFC world by storm with her knockout victory over Ronda Rousey at UFC 193 in November 2015. She has struggled since then, though, with two consecutive losses to Miesha Tate and Valentina Shevchenko, respectively. But that won’t be the only fight at the Barclays Center on Saturday night. Anderson “The Spider” Silva will take on Derek Brunson in a middleweight contest. Once considered the best pound-for-pound fighter in the business, Silva has not registered a win in UFC since October 2012. The main card will kick off at 10 p.m.
Holly Holm Calls Germaine de Randamie’s Post-Bell Strikes ‘Intentional’
Share this: NEW YORK — The first ever UFC women’s featherweight champion was crowned at UFC 208, but it wasn’t without controversy. Germaine de Randamie defeated Holly Holm via unanimous decision in the main event at Barclays Center to capture the inaugural belt, but there were a couple of controversial moments in the fight that left a bitter taste in Holm’s mouth. At the end of the second and third rounds, de Randamie delivered blows to Holm’s head after the bell. The fight’s official, Todd Anderson, who doesn’t have much experience in big events, did not deduct a point from de Randamie and that decision likely altered the fight’s decision. Following the fight, Holm said she thought she missed several opportunities to win on

These Devices Never Wound Up Changing World Like They Were Supposed To
Share this: Technology is constantly evolving. Today’s big thing is tomorrow’s old news. But everyone once in a while, a new device comes along with hopes of changing the world, only to fall flat on its face. Some devices and concepts are made with the best intentions, but perhaps either were introduced at the wrong time or needed to spend more time in development. But sometimes devices still are awesome and revolutionary, regardless of sales or lifespan. We decided to wind back the digital clock and take a look at some of our favorite examples of technology that promised to change the world, but never followed through. 3-D TV [embedded content] The death of 3-D television finally appears to be upon us. Brandon Carlo’s Heads-Up Play Keeps Bruins’ Penalty Kill Strong Vs. Canucks
Share this: The Boston Bruins have the second-best penalty kill in the NHL, and they showed that Saturday. The Vancouver Canucks had the man-advantage in the second period at TD Garden, but they didn’t get anything out of it thanks to Bruins defenseman Brandon Carlo. The Canucks were threatening in front of Boston goaltender Anton Khudobin, but when a shot went behind the net, Carlo had the wherewithal to get in front of the puck and in the passing lane, giving the Bruins the puck back.
