Bruins Relieve Claude Julien Of Coaching Duties Amid Recent Slide

Share this: The Boston Bruins relieved Claude Julien of his head coaching duties Tuesday morning and announced that assistant Bruce Cassidy will take over as interim head coach. Julien guided the Bruins to their first Stanley Cup in over 40 years in 2011 and brought them to another final in 2013. He amassed a 419-246-94 record in his nine-plus seasons behind the Boston bench but failed to make the playoffs in the last two campaigns. The Bruins currently sit in ninth place in the Eastern Conference with a record of 26-23-6. Share this: BOSTON — Brad Marchand, like many of his Bruins teammates, don’t know life in the NHL without Claude Julien as their head coach. That all changed Tuesday. The Bruins fired Julien, midway through his 10th season, replacing him with assistant coach and former Providence Bruins bench boss Bruce Cassidy. The move is something of a last resort for the floundering Bruins, who are on the verge of missing the playoffs for a third consecutive season. As the New England Patriots paraded through the streets of Boston, celebrating their Super Bowl LI championship, Ben Brady was sitting atop a duck boat dabbing on all the haters. Brady was repped during the parade by fellow Patriots quarterback Jacoby Brissett, who donned a No. 12 jersey. Brady spoke after the parade at City Hall Plaza, where fans had gathered for a post-parade rally. The quarterback grabbed one of the Patriots’ five Lombardi Trophies and screamed, “Let’s go!” before joining in on a fan-led “We want six” chant.
