The Red Sox slugger hit home run No. 31 off Kansas City Royals starter Yordano Ventura on Sunday with a solo shot to the center field triangle at Fenway Park. It was Ortiz’s 534th career homer, tying former Red Sox Jimmie Foxx for 18th on the all-time list. Ortiz’s bomb also got out of the yard in one of the most unique ways you’ll ever see. Share this: Dustin Pedroia nearly made history Saturday night. The Boston Red Sox’s second baseman entered his final at-bat with a chance to tie the major league record for most consecutive at-bats with a hit. After three terrific nights at the plate, Pedroia was sitting on 11 straight hits (with a walk mixed in Friday) before grounding out in Boston’s 8-3 win.
