The Red Sox outfielder reached another milestone Monday night at Fenway Park in his very first at-bat against the Tampa Bay Rays. Betts hammered an 0-2 fastball from Rays starter Matt Andriese that deflected high off a sign atop the Green Monster in left field for a solo home run. It was the MVP candidate’s 30th long ball of the season, a remarkable feat for a 5-foot-9, 180-pound converted outfielder who entered 2016 with 23 homers over one and a half seasons. Center Bryan Stork, whom the Patriots on Wednesday traded to the Washington Redskins, on Monday failed his Redskins physical, according to a report from Chris Cooley of ESPN 980. ESPN’s John Keim later confirmed Cooley’s report. As a result, the trade was nullified. The Redskins reacquired the conditional seventh-round pick they sent to New England in the deal, and Stork again became property of the Patriots. It appears likely the Patriots will release the 25-year-old offensive lineman, as they reportedly intended to in the first place before the Redskins pulled the trigger on a last-second trade. Share this: Sunday was a day one Los Angeles Angels fan will never forget. A kid wearing a Mike Trout jersey attempted to get an autograph from the Angels superstar before Sunday’s game between L.A. and the Detroit Tigers at Comerica Park. Trout signed his baseball, and the kid began crying tears of joy, presumably. The kid’s reaction when Trout grabbed his baseball to sign it also was priceless, and you could see him telling Trout “you’re my favorite player.” Don’t expect this fan to ever give up that baseball.
