Share this: BOSTON — It’s safe to say Isaiah Thomas’ performance Tuesday night was the talk of the sports world. The Boston Celtics point guard scored 53 points, 20 of which came in the fourth quarter, as the C’s topped the Washington Wizards 129-119 in overtime in Game 2 of the teams’ best-of-seven Eastern Conference semifinal series, which Boston now leads 2-0. And while TD Garden certainly was buzzing, so was the Internet. Share this: Fernando Alonso will begin his quest for the triple crown on May 29 in the Indianapolis 500. But before he laps the Indianpolis Motor Speedway in real anger, the two-time Formula One world champion will take part in a test Wednesday on the 2 1/2-mile oval. Alonso and McLaren-Honda have dominated the motorsport news cycle since announcing the Spaniard would drive for Andretti Autosport in the 101st running of the Indy 500, and skip the F1 Monaco Grand Prix. The decision, which stemmed from an offhand joke by McLaren CEO Zak Brown, has been met with mixed reactions from members of the F1 paddock, including Red Bull Racing’s Christian Horner and the series’ former CEO, Bernie Ecclestone. The 35-year-old racer has spent
Conor McDermott Film Review: Offensive Tackle Is Raw, Has Makeup To Succeed
Share this: It’s exceptionally difficult to find NFL-caliber starting left tackles. The New England Patriots snagged Matt Light in the second round of the 2001 NFL Draft and rode him for 11 highly successful seasons. The Patriots have selected in the top 20, where many of the best offensive tackles are found, just four times since Bill Belichick became head coach in 2000. They picked Nate Solder with the 17th overall pick in Light’s final season. The Patriots owe most of their success to having Tom Brady at quarterback and Bill Belichick at head coach. It’s helped to have two starting-caliber left tackles during their 16-year run while other teams are constantly searching for that player who is long, strong and athletic enough to protect

Watch Chris Sale Throw Behind Manny Machado In First Inning Of Red Sox-Orioles G…
Share this: It appears the bad blood between the Boston Red Sox and Baltimore Orioles isn’t going anywhere. After Orioles starter Dylan Bundy drilled Mookie Betts during Monday night’s game at Fenway Park, Red Sox ace Chris Sale appeared to send a message during the first inning of Tuesday night’s game. Manny Machado stepped to the plate, and Sale sent a 98-mph fastball sailing behind the Orioles third baseman. Umpires immediately issued warnings to both benches, and Sale eventually struck out Machado to end the inning. The feud began April 21 when Machado injured Red Sox second baseman Dustin Pedroia with a spikes-high slide at Camden Yards. Two days later, Red Sox reliever Matt Barnes threw a fastball near Machado’s head and was ejected from the
Fenway Fans Give Adam Jones Ovation, One Day After Orioles Star Reveals Taunts
Share this: The Fenway Park faithful often don’t give standing ovations to opposing players, but Adam Jones received one Tuesday night during his Baltimore Orioles’ game against the Boston Red Sox. The Orioles center fielder said he was the target of racist taunts during Baltimore’s 5-2 win Monday night, and the next day, fans at Fenway rose to support Jones during his first-inning at-bat. Red Sox president Sam Kennedy, Major League Baseball commissioner Rob Manfred, Boston mayor Marty Walsh and multiple Red Sox players condemned Monday’s incident, in which Jones said fans made racist remarks and threw a bag of peanuts at him. Red Sox Notes: Dylan Bundy Claims He Didn’t Hit Mookie Betts Intentionally
Share this: Baltimore Orioles manager Buck Showalter lauded his team’s “courage” for not retaliating after Boston Red Sox reliever Matt Barnes threw near Manny Machado’s head during the last meeting between the two teams on April 23. But Orioles starter Dylan Bundy hit Red Sox outfielder Mookie Betts during the sixth inning of Monday’s 5-2 win over the Red Sox at Fenway Park, which, of course, sparked questions about the powerful right-hander’s intentions. It’s impossible to know if Bundy was trying to hit the Red Sox star with the Orioles clinging to a two-run lead, and the Red Sox didn’t have a lot to say on the intent after the game. “I can’t answer that,” manager John Farrell said about Bundy’s intent, as seen on
