Broc Parkes replaces Folger for Phillip Island
Experienced Australian rider Broc Parkes will fill in for the recovering Jonas Folger at Monster Yamaha Tech 3 this weekend at Phillip Island. Folger returned to his native Germany before the Japanese Grand Prix to undertake blood tests for the suspected Epstein Barr virus. Monster Yamaha Tech 3 would like to welcome Parkes, who has previously competed in MotoGP™ in 2014 and who has achieved success in the World Superbike and Supersport leagues. The Australian ace is also a competitive front-runner in the FIM Endurance World Championship for the Yamaha Austria Racing Team, having picked up four podiums in fifteen races. Source link
Zero to hero: Nakagami wins pole shootout on home soil
Takaaki Nakagami (Idemitsu Honda Team Asia) will start from pole for his home Grand Prix after an incredible final shootout in qualifying at the Motul Grand Prix of Japan, snatching the honour from Alex Marquez (EG 0,0 Marc VDS) on his final push as conditions went from marginal to slicks within the session. The Japanese rider had been well outside the top twenty in the initial stages but bounced back in style. Marquez starts from P2 after recovering from an early throttle problem, ahead of Xavi Vierge (Tech 3 Racing), who was another to time his attack to perfection - taking his first front row start.
