Calm, collected…‘Maniac’ Iannone?

In the time since Casey Stoner won his home race at Phillip Island back in 2010, Ducati has been through some tough years - to the point where you began to wonder if they would get back to winning ways. And yet, the paddock heads to Brno this weekend with Ducati restored as a winning force in the MotoGP™ World Championship, as the darks days were quickly forgotten by Andrea Iannone’s brilliant win: a Spielberg thriller at the Red Bull Ring in Austria. #AustrianGP: Riders discuss the unknown of the Red Bull Ring

Championship leader Marquez was the first to speak on the new venue, although the Repsol Honda Team were not present at the recent test: “We’ll see this weekend how the new track is for everybody. I’ve done a few laps on the road bike to get to know the circuit and there are some parts where we could gain, and some parts where we could lose, so it will be interesting. We could have a base setting though, because LCR Honda and Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS tested here.” Source link

Miller: “Austria is my first race this year at 100% fitness”

It has taken Jack Miller (Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS) a long time to get back to 100% fit after breaking his right leg in a motocross accident in pre-season, but the Australian rider is now confident he is back to his best after the summer break and heads to the Red Bull Ring – Spielberg eager to get back on his bike. As well as his spectacular win at a rainy TT Circuit Assen earlier in the season, the Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS rider has also been gaining momentum in the dry and is looking to keep the results rolling. Mid-Season Review – Valentino Rossi

Just when it looked liked the ‘Doctor’ had clawed his way back into the fight for the title, Rossi was caught out by the tricky conditions at a wet Assen, crashing while leading the restarted race. Another disastrous result followed in the flag-to-flag race at the Sachsenring, as Rossi could only manage to cross the line in eighth. This has left Rossi’s hope of a tenth title in tatters, as at the halfway point of the season he now finds himself trailing Marquez by the margin of 59 points in the championship. Source link

Mid-season improvers: MotoGP™

Just like Laverty, the new ECU and software has given Hector Barbera (Avintia Racing) a new lease on life. The Spaniard is, just like Laverty, 46 points better off after nine races in 2016 than he was in 2015. In Germany Barbera took to the front row for the second time in his premier class career, an incredible achievement given the fact that he is on a 2014 model Ducati. With 65 points, Barbera is also the leading Ducati overall in the championship standings.... news RSS on motogp.com - The Official MotoGP Website
