Joe Kelly Sheds Light On What Will Go Into His Free Agency Decision
Not many players did better for themselves in the 2018 Major League Baseball playoffs than Joe Kelly. Kelly was sensational throughout the Boston Red Sox’s march to a World Series title, owning a 2-1 record with a 0.79 ERA with 13 strikeouts over 11 1/3 total innings. Kelly took his game to the next level in the Fall Classic, allowing just four hits over six scoreless innings. The dominant stretch came at a perfect time for Kelly, who’s set to hit the open market when MLB free agency opens this offseason. The right-hander has experienced success as a middle reliever, but he could be looking for an elevated role out of the bullpen.
David Backes Could Return To Bruins’ Lineup Saturday Vs. Predators
The Boston Bruins have been hit with the injury bug early in the 2018-19 season. Boston placed defenseman Charlie McAvoy on injured reserve with an upper-body injury Oct. 30, and they have been without winger David Backes since he was hit by in the head by Edmonton Oilers defenseman Matt Benning on Oct. 18. Backes has battled concussions throughout his career and he spoke with the media Thursday about what the NHL leads to continue to do to protect its players. BOSTON — The Boston Celtics were down a starter Thursday night, and an unlikely source stepped in to fill the void. With Jaylen Brown (foot soreness) sidelined for the Celtics’ matchup with the Milwaukee Bucks, conventional knowledge would lead you to believe either Marcus Smart, Terry Rozier or maybe even Marcus Morris would take Brown’s spot in the starting five.
