Few teams have seen less of David Ortiz throughout his career than the Los Angeles Dodgers. But that didn’t stop the club from giving him a very special farewell ceremony Friday. The Dodgers brought surrounded the Boston Red Sox slugger with some old friends ahead of the teams’ three-game series, which will mark Ortiz’s final appearance at Dodger Stadium. Joining Big Papi on the field before the game were Dodgers first baseman Adrian Gonzalez, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts and Dodgers TV color commentator Nomar Garciaparra — all of whom spent time as Ortiz’s teammates in Boston. Derek Fisher To Return To NBA As Player? Ex-Knicks Coach Open To Idea
Derek Fisher might don a uniform — rather than a suit — the next time he roams an NBA sideline. Fisher, who was fired as head coach of the New York Knicks back in February, posted a workout video Tuesday night that kicked off speculation the former NBA point guard is considering a return to the hardwood as a player. Sources told ESPN on Wednesday that Fisher, who turns 42 next week, indeed has been “exploring options and expressing interest in playing again.” This is surprising news, to say the least.
