BOSTON — Loui Eriksson was the top candidate to replace Jarome Iginla at right wing on the Bruins’ first line to start the season, but that plan was put on hold when veteran center David Krejci was forced to miss 20 of the first 31 games because of an injury. Even though Eriksson has played well in the limited time he’s skated alongside Krejci and Milan Lucic since joining the Bruins before the 2013-14 campaign, the best place for him is with Carl Soderberg and Chris Kelly on the third line. The San Diego Padres are stocking up on outfielders. The Padres have agreed to a trade with the Atlanta Braves for outfielder Justin Upton, according to multiple reports. San Diego already acquired outfielders Matt Kemp and Wil Myers this week before landing Upton. The Braves will acquire left-hander Max Fried, second baseman Jace Peterson, third baseman Dustin Peterson and outfielder Mallex Smith, according to CBSSports.com’s Jon Heyman. Gathering reporters around his locker Monday, the Cleveland Browns wide receiver explained his decision to wear a shirt that read “Justice for Tamir Rice and John Crawford” before Sunday’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals. Pawtucket Red Sox Logos, Uniforms Get New Look For 2015 Season (Photos)
The Pawtucket Red Sox will be looking sharp next season. The Boston Red Sox’s Triple-A affiliate rolled out all new logos and uniforms Friday, and they’re quite different from the ones they used to sport, which essentially mirrored their parent club. The PawSox added some powder blue to the mix of the usual red, navy and white and put an emphasis on the “paw” part of their name.
