I have always incorporated stepping into my daily fitness routine, but my old stepper is about 15 years old. It has still held up well but changing heights has always been a challenge as the legs are wedged in and difficult to pull out. Not so with this step. A quick flip and you’re good to go. As far as the video goes, it’s not really a “fun” video but I’m not a fan of workout videos in general. No matter how fun in the beginning, they always get stale in the end, so I memorize the moves and set my own pace and throw it in with my other activities. For this purpose, the video serves very well. It teaches you the full range of moves. Once you learn them, it’s more fun to do it on your own to your own music or to watch something on TV or iPad. The step is big, but you can’t really make a sturdy fold up step! For a step, it’s a good size. Small enough to slide under a bed and get it out of the way. Stepping continues to be a really great cardio workout, even for beginners. It’s very easy to get into and easy to customize to your needs by adjusting height and pace. If you’re looking for a cheap way to get off the couch and start moving this summer, this is it!

I’d be interested in trying a step workout for a while, so when this came along I had to go for it.

One thing to point out — the listing says, “Supports 200 lbs” but the box said more, over 300 if I remember correctly. (I’ll have to dig it out.) As a whole, the step didn’t flex any, but the top is *not* solid. If you step up on your toes in socks, you may feel the plastic flexing a little between the internal supports. Not a problem, but it doesn’t feel entirely strong.

The risers just sit under the step, they don’t snap in or connect in any special way. This is fine, but don’t shift the step, because the risers will stay put and the step may not be stable.

I found the included video a little disappointing. It assumes a lot of familiarity with workout classes, and uses code for what you’re going to do. If “mambo cha-cha knee raise” means something to you, then you’ll do fine, but I would’ve had to pause and loop and try it over and over to make any progress, and it wasn’t actually interesting enough to be worth all that effort. There’s no section for beginners to learn the moves.

Still, it’s a convenient, easy, effective workout tool, and it fits nicely under the bed.

This step works great. It sets up very easy with you just placing the step on top of the risers. The included DVD has many different workouts and warm ups and was easy to follow. I couldnt even try it at first because my girls, aged 8 and 2, wouldnt get off it. I immediately feel my muscles working and it works better than I ever thought. I was literally set up and stepping in minutes. I cant wait to try it when my kids arent around so I can actually get a full workout in. The only thing that bugged me was the fact that the box was broken on arrival. The step, literally fell out of its box. The outer box wasnt damaged so it was strange to see the inner box ruined. No harm done to the step so no problem really. It would only be a problem if you were giving this as a gift.
