UVA stays alive in College World Series

The University of Virginia baseball team kept its national championship hopes alive Thursday night. The Cavaliers defeated the University of California 8 to 1 in an elimination game at the College World Series at Ameritrade Park in Omaha, Nebraska.
The Cavaliers broke the game open with a four-run sixth inning. Tyler Wilson shut down the Bears, scattering five hits and striking out five in 7 and a half innings of work. Kenny Swab and Keith Werman each had two hits; John Barr drove in two runs. The Bears made two errors. The win moves Virginia into a semifinal match up tonight against South Carolina at 7 pm. The Gamecocks are the defending national champions and they defeated Virginia on Tuesday.
