Dan Ryan, Red Line close down as SWAT group referred to as for armed


A five-hour standoff close down the Dan Ryan Expressway and the CTA Red Line Saturday at the South Side whilst a police SWAT group spoke back to a person strolling at the tracks with a knife.

The SWAT group spoke back to the station about 3:05 p.m. after the person, 27, was once observed strolling with a knife at the Red Line tracks, Chicago police mentioned.

In reaction, the CTA suspended Red Line carrier between the 95th Street and Garfield stations, whilst the Dan Ryan Expressway was once close down in each instructions between 79th Street and 87th Street, in keeping with the CTA and Illinois State Police.

The guy was once tased and brought into custody about 8:15 p.m., police mentioned. He was once hospitalized on the University of Chicago Medical Center.

The Dan Ryan was once reopened in each instructions about 9:30 p.m., in keeping with state police.
