Fans Use Cell Phones To Help Fix Red Sox-Yankees Light Delay (Photos)

NEW YORK — The Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees dealt with a light delay Friday.

A bank of lights along the facade at Yankee Stadium went out in the bottom of the 12th inning, prompting the umpires to pull the Red Sox off the field as they sorted things out.

The delay lasted approximately 16 minutes. The Yankees later announced there had been a power surge throughout the ballpark.

The darkness was hardly noticeable, yet play was stopped. Fortunately, the Yankees fans who stuck around had some fun with the dilemma by breaking out their cell phones as an additional source of light.
