Former No. 1 Overall Pick, Elton Brand, Retires From NBA After 17 Seasons

In 1999, the Chicago Bulls selected Elton Brand with the No. 1 overall pick in the NBA Draft. 17 years later and Brand has finally retired from the league. He may have lasted only two years in Chicago and spent 11 seasons on losing teams around the league but Brand was a model of consistency in the NBA.

Brand averaged over 18 points and nine rebounds per game through his first eight seasons before tearing his Achilles in 2007. He fought back to rehab from the injury and continue to produce in the NBA for nearly another decade before finally deciding to retire.

NESN.com’s Rachel Holt tells you what Brand had to say at the conclusion of his career in the video above.
