‘I don’t need discipline objectives’ — Bears’ Matt Nagy extra nervous

When requested if he was anxious to see Eddy Pineiro kick discipline objectives Thursday, Bears coach Nagy stated, half-kidding, that he hoped it didn’t come to that.

“I want to see a lot of extra points — I don’t want field goals,” he stated Tuesday. “And that’s nothing in opposition to him. That’s simply the mindset we’ve got of an offense.

“If he will get an opportunity to go on the market, then see him actually have that confidence going on the market and placing it.”

He stated Pineiro has “just been himself” all through the kicker derby.

“He has a happy-go-lucky attitude — he shows that after he makes his kicks,” Nagy stated. “He’s frustrated after he misses his kicks. I kind of like that, it shows that he really cares and I’m okay with that. You know this whole entire time he’s never run away from the challenge we have given him mentally and then physically. He’s attacked it full steam ahead.”
