John Scott Leaves Bench, Sparks Massive Ducks-Sharks Line Brawl (Video)

The pressure was building the entire game. It was just a matter of time until things erupted, and they certainly did.

In the third period of Sunday’s game between the San Jose Sharks and Anaheim Ducks, Sharks’ tough guy John Scott left the bench to fight Tim Jackman. The pair already had dropped the gloves early in the first period and earned matching fighting penalties. Round two turned into a full-out line brawl.

Scott could face an automatic ten-game suspension if the NHL finds that he didn’t leave the bench as part of a legitimate line change, which would violate Rule 70.10.

In the game, Scott received a ten-minute game misconduct for instigating and was ejected.

Even Ducks goalie Frederick Andersen attempted to get in on the action.

When all was said and done, the two teams combined for 165 penalty minutes in 60 minutes of hockey. Twenty-four of those penalties came in the third period alone. The Sharks went on to win 4-1.
