Thank goodness Kyle Long will undergo surgery Monday.
The Chicago Bears offensive lineman used Twitter on Sunday to share a picture of his injured ankle with the world. The image clearly shows why he’ll sit out the rest of the NFL season.
Long suffered ligament damage on Nov. 13 when fullback Paul Lasike fell onto him in the Bears’ Week 10 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Trainers carted Long off the field, and he returned to the sideline with his lower leg heavily bandaged.
The Bears subsequently placed the three-time Pro Bowl guard on injured reserve.
Nobody who has seen Long’s injured ankle will doubt why.
