Patriots Notes: Jimmy Garoppolo Gets Vote Of Confidence From Saints’ Backup QB
by Zack Cox on Tue, Aug 9, 2016 at 4:48PM 2,163 Share this: FOXBORO, Mass. — The New England Patriots play against one of the best quarterbacks of the last two decades every day in practice. On Tuesday, they got to square off against another — and they did not fare particularly well against him. New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees completed 21 of 25 passes in 11-on-11 drills against the Patriots’ defense during the first of the teams’ two scheduled joint practices. After the session, Brees received nothing but praise from Patriots safety Devin McCourty. “One of the best,” McCourty said. “That’s what I really like about this. Free Practice 1 was cut short by spots of rain, Rossi electing to remain in the pits rather than go back out in the wet. The second session of the day began in similar circumstances, Rossi not waiting around this time. Despite improving his FP1 time by 0.757s, ‘The Doctor’ concluded Friday in 14th overall....

Though they may be young, Krug, Bartkowski and Hamilton have proved themselves worthy of head coach Claude Julien‘s confidence moving forward in the series. Julien said he has encouraged the young players to continue doing the things they know they do well in order to continue making an impact.
